We are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to join our team, specializing in shipping management and bunker surveying. The ideal candidate will manage financial operations related to our shipping services and bunker surveying activities, ensuring compliance and providing financial insights to support our business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate financial records for shipping management and bunker surveying operations, including accounts payable and receivable, invoicing, and expense tracking. - Cost Analysis:
Analyze costs associated with shipping services and bunker operations, including fuel costs and surveying expenses, to identify trends and optimize profitability. - Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts specific to shipping management and bunker surveying, aligning financial planning with company goals. - Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, including those specific to the shipping industry and bunker fuel standards. - Reporting:
Prepare financial reports, including profit and loss statements, for shipping and bunker surveying activities, presenting findings to management. - Collaboration:
Work closely with the operations and surveying teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and to support strategic decision-making. - Audit Support:
Assist in internal and external audits, providing necessary financial documentation and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. - Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for improving accounting processes and financial controls related to shipping management and bunker surveying.
Qualifications:
- Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is a plus. - Experience:
3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in shipping, logistics, or related industries, with exposure to bunker surveying being an advantage. - Technical Skills:
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., MYOB) and MS Office, particularly Excel. - Analytical Skills:
Strong analytical abilities, with a focus on interpreting financial data relevant to shipping and fuel costs. - Attention to Detail:
High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting. - Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with internal teams and clients.
Preferred Qualifications:
