Our client is a prominent and global player in the maritime sector. There is now a need for the business to hire an experienced and meticulous finance professional to be part of their dynamic finance team as an Accountant.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards.
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and insights to support decision-making.
- Generate reports on financial performance, budgets, and forecasts.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Oversee and process accounts payable and receivable transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Reconcile accounts and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Prepare and manage invoices, payment schedules, and collections.
General Ledger and Journal Entries:
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger.
- Prepare and post journal entries to ensure all business transactions are accurately recorded.
- Conduct month-end and year-end close processes.
Tax Compliance:
- Prepare and submit tax filings, including corporate tax returns, sales tax, and VAT, as applicable.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
- Work with external auditors and tax advisors to coordinate audits and tax returns.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
- Track and report on budget variances and provide explanations for deviations.
Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to accounting policies and internal controls.
- Regularly review financial practices for compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of improved accounting procedures and policies.
Financial Systems:
- Manage accounting software and systems to ensure data integrity.
- Assist in upgrading or migrating financial software as needed.
- Train and support other team members on financial systems and best practices.
Special Projects and Additional Duties:
- Participate in special projects and financial analyses as required.
- Support the finance team with ad-hoc tasks and reports.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or ACCA qualified.
- Experience: 3 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a similar industry.
- Certification: CPA, CMA, or relevant certification is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software and highly familiar with SAP ERP Systems, Microsoft Excel, and sound knowledge of Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS)
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in work and strong attention to detail.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
