Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Application Production Support Specialist to oversee day-to-day operations of our technology platform, specifically focusing on COBOL and Tandem systems. This role involves identifying production issues, creating incident tickets, and collaborating with development and business operations teams. You must have Handson experience in UNIX environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily operations of COBOL applications, including JCL, VSAM, DB2, CICS, and MQ Series.
- Monitor production environments, troubleshoot issues, and escalate as necessary.
- Create and manage incident, enhancement, and problem tickets in the tracking system.
- Engage with technology infrastructure and development teams to ensure seamless operations and support during releases and upgrades.
- Lead production support incidents, performing root cause analysis and identifying mitigations.
- Communicate effectively with all business lines regarding application health and status.
Mandatory Skills:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in COBOL development.
- Proficiency with JCL, VSAM, DB2, CICS, and MQ Series.
- Familiarity with production support on Unix servers and SQL.
- Experience with Endeavor and IBM problem determination tools (File Manager, Fault Analyzer).
- Strong Unix server administration skills.
Desired Skills:
- Exposure to IMS DB/DC and REXX.
- Background in banking or financial services.
- Knowledge of Java/J2EE, middleware components (e.g., IBM Websphere MQ), and PL/SQL query performance tuning.
- Experience with monitoring and scheduling tools, and ITIL best practices.
- Ability to work on-call for incident management and support.
