Founded in 1962, the SIIA is Singapore's oldest think tank. Through policy research and dialogue, the organisation aims to bridge the gap between policymakers, private sector decision-makers, and experts to respond to the key and emerging global challenges and opportunities.
Role Description
The SIIA is looking for an Assistant Director for Policy Programmes to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with senior management and policy analysts to enhance the impact of our Policy Programmes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Working with senior management and team to conceptualise policy impact and work plan for the ASEAN and Sustainability Programmes;
- Lead the team in the coordination of SIIA's flagships: ASEAN & Asia Forum and Singapore Dialogue on Sustainable World Resources. This involves working with the team on conceptualising and planning the theme, panels and speakers for the event, as well as executing the plan;
- Working with analysts to build up in-house knowledge and content on key ASEAN countries Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar, with updates to be provided to senior management and SIIA's membership base. These will also be fed into programme proposals, reports, commentaries and other documents which will provide analyses, evaluations and recommendations - whether to policy makers and experts on public issues, or as private advisory work for corporations;
- Coordinate across policy research pillars to build synergies within the Institute. E.g. how political and economic issues cross over with digital or sustainability issues.
- Developing and writing programme proposals, newspaper commentaries, and reports according to your areas of focus;
- Engaging stakeholders, both local and international, to build strong partnerships and sponsorship engagement for the ASEAN and Sustainability programmes;
- Working with analysts to plan and execute other projects and events under the ASEAN and Sustainability programmes, such as roundtables, overseas engagement trips, dialogues;
- Supporting the SIIA in taking on private advisory work for corporations, which will take the form of research, analysis and presentations.
Qualifications
- Possess good understanding of regional and international issues
- Project management expertise in policy-related programs
- Strong communication skills for engaging with policymakers and stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks to meet strict deadlines
- Bachelor's degree in International Relations, Political Science, or related field
- 3 - 5 years of relevant experience preferred
