The Assistant Director / Senior Manager, Corporate Communications for the Communications and Marketing Group (CMG) is responsible for GovTech's external and internal communications. GovTech CMG's goals are to promote awareness and understanding, drive adoption, use and satisfaction of Smart Nation and digital government services among public service officers, citizens and businesses. The team also strives for GovTech to be recognised as a key thought leader in applied technology in Singapore and internationally.

As part of the CMG leadership team, the Assistant Director/ Senior Manager, Corporate Communications will need to work closely with both internal and external stakeholders including product teams, other government agencies and private sector industry partners as well as the senior management, to achieve CMG's goals.

The Assistant Director/ Senior Manager, Corporate Communications is responsible for public communications and marketing activities for key products, such as LifeSG and GoBusiness. The successful candidate will lead a team of communications and marketing professionals in the areas of strategic communications, media engagement, marketing communications and international media communications. In the area of international media communications, this is to be activated if there is a need to profile our leaders and products at key overseas events, and if we are bringing top tier journalists to Singapore for key events such as our biennial STACK Developer Conference. In addition, the successful candidate is the custodian of the GovTech corporate message house, as well as the lead for crisis communications and executive communications.

The ideal candidate is passionate about delivering meaningful and relevant digital services to the public and has a solid understanding of web and mobile technologies. This person is also a superior storyteller and communicator with a proven track record of developing multi-channel communications and marketing plans, outreach campaigns and publicity materials for government agencies, national projects or consumer products.

What you will be working on:

  • Conceptualise impactful integrated communications and marketing plans for brand awareness and product adoption, and guide the team in the execution of these plans to deliver strong and measurable earned and paid media results
  • Create and deliver powerful narratives and compelling content (e.g. media materials, profile stories, product collateral and videos) to various target audiences, e.g. project partners, media and the public
  • Lead issues management and crisis communications for incidents related to GovTech's products
  • Engage local and international media to raise awareness of GovTech products, and guide the team in media engagements including press relations, pitching, managing media queries, and crafting media releases, factsheets and FAQs
  • Work with other government agencies and industry partners to drive awareness and targeted adoption of GovTech products, including being involved in outreach activities, social media marketing and review of marketing collaterals for the products

What we are looking for:

  • Degree in Mass Communications, Marketing or a related field from an accredited institution
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in Communications, Marketing Communications and/or Product Marketing for technology and/or digital products
  • Strategic planning skills, including ability to shape messaging, develop brand positioning and engage external and internal stakeholders effectively
  • At least five years experience in crisis communications / issues management, particularly in industries such as tech, healthcare, education, or FMCG
  • Experienced in designing and driving integrated communications strategies to meet project-based/organisational objectives, with a proven track record of successfully executing communications plans that tap on integrated platforms
  • Experienced in cultivating and maintaining relationships with the local and international media, across lifestyle, tech and business beats.
  • Possess the ability to understand business needs and challenges and comfortable with data-driven decision making
  • Strong people leader with excellent communications and interpersonal skills to engage a wide spectrum of external and internal stakeholders, including multi-agency and cross-functional teams
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Understanding of the tech industry or public sector is an advantage, but not mandatory
