Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with other discipline coordinators (MEP Architectural etc.) to integrate structural models into the overall project BIM model.
- Ensure structural BIM models are aligned with the architectural and MEP models preventing clashes and conflicts.
- Perform clash detection using BIM tools like Navisworks and resolve conflicts between structural and other building systems (MEP architectural).
- Report track and resolve issues arising from clash detection processes.
- Create and manage 3D BIM models for structural components using software like Revit.
- Oversee the development of accurate structural BIM models according to project requirements standards and specifications.
- Ensure that models are developed at the required Level of Development (LOD).
- Ensure that structural BIM models adhere to project BIM standards and protocols.
- Conduct regular model reviews to maintain accuracy and consistency in the models and verify adherence to relevant codes and regulations.
- Manage and maintain structural data ensuring all design information is correct and up to date.
- Liaise between structural engineers architects MEP coordinators contractors and other stakeholders to resolve design and construction issues.
- Facilitate collaborative workflows between all involved parties and ensure smooth information exchange.
- Organize and attend coordination meetings to discuss and resolve BIM related issues.
- Generate reports on BIM coordination clash detection results and structural progress.
- Produce drawings and schedules directly from the BIM model for structural elements as required.
- Maintain proper documentation of all BIM related data ensuring accurate project records.
- Assist in the development and implementation of BIM standards protocols and best practices specific to structural work.
- Ensure that all teams are following these standards to maintain consistency and quality in the BIM process.
Job Description
- Work in the Digital Delivery Group, under the direction of Digital Leads, and help manage design teams of technical staff, through BIM collaboration and project delivery.
- Support project BIM organization, drawing production, and BIM-CADD standard enforcement on a variety of assignments, specifically with a focus on Revit Structures.
- Work closely with Project/Design managers and Design Engineers to help review layout and deliver quality project deliverables.
- Provide Autodesk construction cloud, Common Data Environment (CDE) configuration and management.
- Provide oversight and mentoring regarding BIM software, modeling technique, digital workflows, and procedures.
- Document project BIM-CAD delivery within the Engineering Technical Execution Plan.
- Support project teams through design and construction phases, and assist with digital delivery scope, schedule, and budget.
- Manage project BIM-CAD files in the associated CDE.
- Define workflows and develop work instructions for project team direction.
- Develop project specific BIM-CAD template files and discipline BIM content and configurations.
- Assist discipline BIM leads with software configuration, content creation and data management.
- Implement Client standards and project workflows to accommodate Client specific BIM-CAD and data deliverables.
- Create, supervise & review 3D models using specialized software, such as Revit and AutoCAD.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other professionals to develop design plans and specifications.
- Using BIM software, generate 2D drawings and documents, such as floor plans, sections, and details.
- Analyze and interpret building codes and regulations to ensure compliance with industry and ISO 19650 Standards.
- Assist the leads in maintaining and updating project documentation, including plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Identify potential conflicts or issues in the design process and work to resolve them.
- Provide technical support and guidance to other team members as needed.
- Develop and manage the federated project model for design, clash, and quality review.
- Host design coordination sessions with design management and discipline leads. Perform interference checking and model quality control.
- Prepare drawing packages for QA-QC reviews and Client submissions.
- Develop cross discipline general drawings, general legends, submission index and cover sheets.
- Develop project specific drawing borders for associated software.
- Manage title block and revision data integrations within the CDE.
- Document control for all design stage deliverables and archives.
- Provide drawing/modeling progress updates and quality audits.
- Work with the Digital Delivery team to implement and expand our suite of project lifecycle digital solutions.
- Prepare InfraWorks models for client presentations.
- Plan and develop BIM integrated asset data and documentation collection.
- Develop project specific review and approval automations within CDE.
- Planning and management of record models for project lifecycle and client information handover.
- Other duties as required.
