Who We Are

The Institute for Adult Learning (IAL), an autonomous institute of the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), is at the forefront of building capabilities and offering continuing professional development for an effective, innovative and responsive Training and Adult Education (TAE) sector. We have various positions open now for recruitment.

inlab, the Innovation Centre at IAL, was set up to catalyse learning innovation in Singapore's TAE sector. An initiative of SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) and managed by the Institute for Adult Learning (IAL), inlab is where the TAE professionals come together as a community to explore and innovate learning solutions.

About The Role

Reporting to the Principal Manager (Team Lead), the Assistant Manager supports the Innovation Centre in involves managing learning innovation programs, fostering partnerships with stakeholders, and providing consultancy to TAE organisations on leveraging technology for improved learning solutions. It includes identifying innovation opportunities, co-organising activities to drive adoption, showcasing best practices, and promoting cost-effective tools within the TAE sector. The position also supports training, resource development, and cross-team collaboration to advance innovative learning practices.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Drive and manage at least one of the inlab innovSeries programs from conceptualization to implementation
  • Identify areas in learning innovation that will contribute to IAL's mission, including designing and developing initiatives, activities and and/or improving existing ones
  • Cultivate and maintain partnerships with a diverse range of sector stakeholders, including Training Providers, enterprise L&D practitioners, Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) and education-technology and learning solutionists to forge collaborations and contribute to the development of a vibrant learning innovation ecosystem
  • Provide advisory and consultancy to TAE organisations and learning solution providers seeking to leverage learning innovation and technology to improve their courses and programmes
  • Contribute to efforts to realise learning innovation adoptions. This would include co-creating and organising of activities and events with stakeholders to meet inlab's and organizational objectives
  • Identify and curate existing best in class learning innovation for showcase, sharing and implementation
  • Conduct training and sharing sessions on inlab curated learning innovations
  • Develop innovative adult education related resources to facilitate innovative learning practices and adoption within the TAE sector
  • Contribute to the curation of cost-effective and easy-to-use (CEE) technology tools and applications to encourage adoption of learn tech amongst the training and adult education community
  • Participate in cross team and/or divisional projects to meet organisational needs and demands amidst evolving environments, as well as other operational tasks and duties that may be assigned from time-to-time.

Job Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification, preferably in Education, Adult Education, Learning and Development or Ed Tech
  • At least 5 years of experience in learning designing, pedagogy and/or developing technology-enabled learning, Multimedia Production, Education technologies and / or have worked in a technology start-up
  • At least 5 years of experience and proven competencies in supporting adult education, adoption of learning technologies and production of learning resources
  • Proven skills in networking, business acumen, conceptualisation, project management and project implementation with experience in business development and enterprise fronting engagements
  • Strong pedagogical and andragogical foundation
  • Able to keep up with and appreciate innovation development in technology-enabled learning and technology-enabled learning design
  • Willingness to learn up on new technology platforms that will improve internal operations, and engage internal stakeholders well for this purpose
  • Familiar with Singapore's Continuing Education and Training (CET) landscape and have good network of learning solution providers, enterprises, Training Providers and/or IHLs
  • Able to analyse, evaluate and assess learning challenges and the recommended solutions put forward
  • Able to work independently and collaborate effectively, with a good eye for detail and administration capabilities
  • Strong written and spoken language abilities.
  • The successful appointee will be based in IAL Campus located at Lifelong Learning Institute at Paya Lebar.
