The Research Office, A.STAR is responsible for overseeing and developing frameworks to ensure research quality, excellence and impact, as well as reviewing policies and measures to safeguard research ethics, integrity, compliance and responsible conduct. It also oversees strategic research initiatives, outputs, outcomes and research data, as well as local and international research partnerships.
Responsibilities
By working closely with the officers at the Research Office, you will learn to:
- Systems Management
- Understand the scientific publication process
- Assist with the management of publication-related IT systems, with A.STAR ITSS support
- Assist in managing, tracking and ensuring compliance for the approval systems
- Understand the Open Access (OA) principles, funder's requirements and publishers terms and conditions
- Review publication submissions in institutional repository, based on relevance, compliance and integrity
- Correspond with researchers on publication compliance matters
- Resource Management
- Facilitate with the administration for disbursement of funds for resources purchase
- Generate usage reports, tracking and analysing access data for making recommendations on journals to retain/ equipment to refresh for the institute
- Interface with other departments stakeholders and work in a matrix team to ensure timely procurement and the continuity for institutional resources managed by the Research Office
- Engage with vendors of projects e.g., negotiate with publishers and solutioning to manage overall subscription costs
- Provide central support to A.STAR REs and handle the procurement process for e-journal subscriptions (and the cost allocation to REs),
- General Duties
- Assist with the collation/ submission of memos, proposals, presentation and other relevant materials
- Assist with managing projects budget procurement
- Plan, organize and coordinate meetings and activities for the research office
- Perform other duties and administrative functions as assigned by Reporting Officer
Requirements
- Positive attitude and motivated self-starter who is independent and is comfortable to work in teams
- Good interpersonal, communication, writing, organizational and time-management skills
- Meticulous and proficient in Microsoft Office
- Some experience in managing website/ IT system is advantageous
- Ability to use AI applications, Power Automate, Mailmerge is advantageous
- Diploma with minimum 3 years relevant experience may apply
