DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Welcomes caf guests in the warmest possible manner, responds to customer queries and concerns
- Encourages consumers to drink coffee and/or other beverages by educating them on the features and specifics of types and characteristics
- If needed, grinds and brew coffee and serving them at the best presentation to make the drinking experience most rewarding
- Informs them about specials or new items, answering questions and accepting orders
- Ensures that a beverage menu is available for customers and updated as necessary
- Follows established formulas and preparation procedures to ensure consistency in the quality of coffee, tea and other beverages
- Attracts new consumers and defines new and extended services and products to generate more income
- Maintains coffee bar inventory by refilling coffee bean supplies, stocking coffee inventory, keeping volume enough for expected orders for each day
- Provides pastries and cookies as options for customers to go with their preferred coffee and beverage
- Follows operating instructions, troubleshoots malfunctions, does preventive maintenance, keep bar equipment working, and calls for repairs during malfunctions if needed
- Continuously expands knowledge in hot and cold beverages as wealth as health and safety standards
- Works as part of a fun, high-energy team
- Adheres to all food safety and health regulations and quality controls
- Studies, analyses, and redesigns procedures as well as makes improvements
- Maintains and makes recommendations to enhances the coffee bar's look and appearance if needed
- Participates in educational opportunities, reads coffee materials, retail trade and food service magazines
- Networks with other baristas in the industry to keep job knowledge up-to-date
- Accepts other responsibilities for completing new and varied demands and looks for ways to add value to improve the cafs reputation
- Undertakes any other assigned ad-hoc duties as the business requires
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Restaurant Management, Business, or relevant fields
- Two (2) to three (3) years of experience as a barista
- Completed the WSQ Basic Food Hygiene Course - Food Safety Course Levels 1 and 2
- Strong interpersonal skills and enjoys interacting with customers
- Sound and strong understanding of optimising cafe operations and key indicators of success
- Possesses strong logical and analytical problem-solving skills
- Able to grasp business requirements and processes
- Working knowledge of POS software and systems and Microsoft Office
- Meticulous, good organizational and operations skills
- Good communication and listening skills
