Job Title: Base Metals Trader

We are working with a globally renowned trading house, seeking an experienced Base Metals Trader to join their team in Singapore. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of the base metals market and a strong trading track record. You will be responsible for executing physical base metals trades, managing risk, and expanding business relationships across Asia and other global markets. Key Responsibilities:
- Execute physical trades of base metals (copper, aluminum, zinc, nickel, lead, etc.), managing both purchase and sale contracts effectively.
- Analyze global and regional base metals markets, track price movements, and identify market opportunities for profitable trades.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, smelters, and industrial consumers, ensuring the best possible trading terms.
- Develop and implement hedging strategies to manage exposure to price volatility using financial derivatives (futures, options, swaps).
- Identify new trading opportunities within the Asian market and beyond, negotiating and structuring deals to expand the trading portfolio.
- Ensure efficient management of the supply chain, from procurement to final delivery, while optimizing costs.
- Maintain full compliance with local and international trading regulations, reporting standards, and ethical guidelines.
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of experience in physical base metals trading, with deep knowledge of the Asian and global metals markets.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess market trends and make data-driven decisions.
- Established relationships with key market participants, including producers, smelters, and end-users in the base metals sector.
- Excellent negotiation skills with a proven track record of closing complex transactions.
- Proficiency in risk management, including derivatives trading and hedging techniques.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced trading environment, under pressure and with tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, with fluency in English; knowledge of additional Asian languages is a plus.
