Bioinformatics Scientist (1-year fellowship with Mirxes)

Job Summary

This role will help to maintain, optimize, build and run bioinformatic pipelines, including those from whole genome sequencing and or whole genome methylation sequencing. The candidate will work closely with other research scientist and will be responsible in running various data analysis pipelines to process genomic data generated from Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) and/or other sequencing platforms.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Manage large data sets generated from sequencing operation and monitor the data quality.
• Maintain and update scripts and or computing systems for various bioinformatics pipelines (eg. WGS, WGMS, RNA etc).
• Be competent in validating, optimizing, and customizing existing workflows or building new workflows to meet project requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

• PhD in related Science background
• MSc in related Science background with >2 years experiences
• Experience in working with next generation sequencing data (NGS) (e.g. WGS, WGMS) including annotation, QTL analysis etc.
• Good working knowledge in:
• 1. Linux environment
• 2. Languages: Shell scripting, R and/or python
• 3. Working with workflow management system
• Good understanding and proficient with handling and processing sequencing data, using bioinformatics tools and databases.
• AWS knowledge desirable but not essential
• Good verbal communication, interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
