Job Description
An opportunity to join our growing Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) Wholesale team, at one of the largest speciality brokers in the world. The role is to support the Director of ANZ Wholesale, and another placement broker, in the end-to-end broking life cycle. The role is designed to develop into a placement broker as we grow. We're looking for an individual enthusiastic to join a developing business and be exposed to risks in different geographies and international insurance markets.
Responsibility
- To support and work closely with the ANZ Wholesale team to manage and grow the portfolios, including production and placement activities into the Singapore and international markets.
- Assist in the conversion of new business opportunities which promote the profitable development of the business.
- To prepare and finalise insurance documentation for the team which enables efficient placement of business
- To broker endorsements and simple placements
- To prepare placement summaries and liaise with the technical administration for prompt billing of business.
- To participate in the development of the Australian and New Zealand Wholesale (re)insurance business in line with the Company's plans and targets.
- To facilitate the prompt placement of Australian and New Zealand Wholesale (re)insurance contracts in accordance with the client's requirements and needs, in a timely manner in accordance with regulatory requirements acting in the best interest of the client and the company at all times.
- To provide a quality service to clients covering all aspects of their (re)insurance arrangements to advise, arrange, and secure the appropriate cover at a competitive premium.
- To engage existing clients to ascertain if there are further opportunities.
- Support the Director of Australian and New Zealand Wholesale on:
- Client Servicing
- The renewal business portfolio
- New business production
- The marketing & placement of risks
- To meet the financial and operational targets set by the Australian and New Zealand Wholesale Department.
- To promote effective and regular communication within the Australian and New Zealand Wholesale Department and with other Departments.
- To promote and ensure compliance with the Company's Rules and Procedures and other management instructions, in particular with regard to:
- The conduct and recording of business
- Confirmations and evidencing of cover
- Recording and filing of all communications and discussions
- The safeguarding of client monies
- The escalation and reporting of breaches, errors & omissions, disputes, and complaints
- Support the liaison with other departments to ensure that a coordinated approach is adopted on matters with cross-company impact.
- Reporting to the line manager in a timely manner to update on the performance and ensure the line manager and Compliance Officer is made aware of:
- Any matter that might expose the Company to a claim, legal action, or regulatory action/investigation.
- Any serious disciplinary cases.
- To ensure sound business practices and an adequate and proactive risk control framework within the team.
- To exercise judgment when reviewing proposals, either new or renewals.
- To maintain up-to-date and orderly files, and ensure documents are saved and files are passed on to others in accordance with Company Rules and Procedures.
- Any other relevant tasks that your line manager may from time to time require you to enact.

Compliance
- Comply with relevant legal, regulatory and compliance requirements, E&O compliance procedures and quality initiatives.
- Escalation of any potential E&O's to Division Head / Directors at the earliest opportunity.
- Ensure completion of all mandatory Company training and to deadline.
Your scope of duties is not restrictive and may be expanded at the company's discretion.
Experience Required
- 2-5 years of broking experience
- Certification in General Insurance (BCP, PGI & ComGI)
- University Degree - Any
- Strong Microsoft Suite of Products skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams, etc.)
- Experience in international markets incl. open market documentation desirable but not mandatory
- Bi-lingual viewed favorably
