Candidates are expected to:-
- Take lead of the shipboard engineering department and engineers in the maintenance, operations, and repairs of the vessel's mechanical and electrical systems, equipment, and installations
- Ensure seaworthiness and readiness of the vessel's mechanical and electrical systems, equipment and installations in accordance to voyage schedule
- Plan and maintain inventory of spare parts, fuel, and lubricating oil
- Take charge of emergency drills and situations related to the vessel's mechanical and electrical systems, equipment, and installations
- Develop and control plans for the maintenance of technical installations and equipment throughout the vessel
- Deploy vessel staff in close consultation with the Chief Mate and Second Engineer
- Appraise the performance and potential of the vessel's staff in accordance with established company procedures
- Ensure the vessel has sufficient freshwater supply for the voyage
- Oversee bunkering procedure and liaise with relevant stakeholders for the delivery of bunker vessel
- Ensure compliance to all local, national and international environmental laws relating to maritime safety, pollution, and domains where applicable and
- Perform survey work in accordance with Classification Society regulations.
The ideal candidate must:-
- Possess a valid Certificate of Competency (Marine Engineer Officer) Class 1 and
- Possess at least 3 years of experience as a Chief Engineer onboard a container vessel.
