To achieve this goal, we are looking for a China/Asia Talent Development Lead to be help design and implement the China/Asia talent strategy and supporting processes and programs to build a strong pipeline of talent in China and across the Group to support our China/Asia strategy. This includes developing an actionable and comprehensive plan to address current and future talent and capability needs and coordinating the implementation of such a plan. Connecting the dots with various parts of RT organization and People function, the role will ensure that the company moves at pace to have the right talent development model and programs in place to ensure todays needs and future needs addressed.
Reporting to the VP People Commercial this role will be a member of the Commercial HR team. In country, the role will have a dotted reporting line to China Country head and be part of the extended China leadership team. This unique role will bring together the planning and execution of China talent strategy through a successful collaboration with business leaders, People functions and others across Commercial and RT. Additionally, the role will work closely with Rio Tinto Talent AoE team.
- Develop talent strategy for China aligned with RT strategic plan
- Lead and support our talent strategy for Asia, in collaboration with the stakeholders across the business
- Generate deep understanding for the organization of our current talent bench-strength, future required capability
- Generate deep understanding of external talent pool for Asian talents
- Develop a comprehensive approach including processes and programs to address the gap in a holistic way
- Ensure our EVP to attract, develop and retain the right talent for our China strategy
- Coordinate the seamless implementation of various programs including but not limited to graduate/young professional pipeline, rotation/development, coaching/mentoring/sponsoring, targeted accelerated leadership development, succession, knowledge transfer.
- Partner with the AOE talent to ensure alignment and leverage of best practices and global approach
- Partner with the People Business Partners to align global, regional and local requirements
- Drive our Asian Leadership Development Program across the globe
- Partner with external customers to drive integrated and collaborative talent programs and exchanges
About You

Your Previous Experience Should Include
- Strong experience (10 years) in HR with focus in talent management and organisational development
- Strong business acumen, able to diagnose and analyse issues and drive appropriate solutions
- Strong experience and professional knowledge of China talent market and resource industries
- Coaching and business partnering expertise
- Learning agility and cultural awareness
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, including collaborating across large, matrix structures to achieve optimal outcomes
- Data oriented decision maker
- Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills
- Experience in designing and implementing HR programs and initiatives
- Bachelor Degree
It will also be beneficial if you have
- Excellent communication skills in Mandarin Chinese, due to business needs in China
- Preferably with experience and working knowledge of Asian talent market (ex. China) and resources industries
- Relevant industry background in mining and metals
- Consulting experience desirable

Where you will be working
Headquartered in Singapore, and integrated with Rio Tinto's assets, hubs, and offices globally, our Commercial group works hand-in-hand with our product groups to ensure both the amount and types of products we produce meet our customer's needs, and manage the trade-off between volumes, quality,cost and capital expenditure.
