Job Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Cloud Engineer (AWS) at Hong Leong Finance Limited in Singapore. The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for infrastructure management, and cloud computing.
- Design, implement, and maintain AWS Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs) and EC2 to support applications and services, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost-effectiveness.
- Configure and manage network components such as subnets, route tables, and network ACLs to optimize network traffic and reduce data transfer costs.
- Implement and manage AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) roles and policies to ensure secure access to AWS services while adhering to least privilege principles.
- Implement best practices for security, compliance, and resilience in AWS environments while balancing cost implications.
- Automate tasks and workflows using AWS Lambda, CloudFormation, or other relevant tools.
- Optimize AWS costs by identifying idle or underutilized resources, implementing cost allocation tags, and leveraging Reserved Instances and Savings Plans.
- Automate cost monitoring and reporting using AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, or third-party tools to track and forecast expenditures.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure issues related to cost inefficiencies, perform root cause analysis, and implement solutions to optimize spending.
- Develop and manage budgets for cloud projects and present cost analysis and optimization recommendations to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement cost-effective data warehouse solutions on AWS (e.g., Redshift, QuickSight), optimizing for performance and cost.
- Stay current with AWS services, industry trends, and best practices to continuously improve cloud infrastructure cost efficiency.
- Design and deploy cloud-native solutions, including microservices, serverless architectures, and containerized applications, to enhance scalability and efficiency.
- This role requires being on rotational standby during off hours to handle any emergencies or incidents that may arise.
Requirements
- AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect).
- Must have hands-on experience in designing and managing AWS VPCs, including subnetting, security groups, and related services such as Lambda, S3, EC2, VPC, network, IAM, RDS, CloudFormation, and cost optimization.
- Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable cloud solutions using IaC tools and frameworks.
- Experience with implementing and managing IAM policies and roles in AWS, focusing on security and cost-effective access management.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation and orchestration, including cost management scripts.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with JSON and YAML for automating and managing AWS infrastructure.
- Proficiency in managing Linux and Windows Server operating systems on AWS.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Experience with budgeting for cloud projects and the ability to present cost-related information clearly and effectively.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Preferred Experienced / Qualifications
- Familiarity with data warehouse concepts and experience with AWS data warehouse solutions (e.g., Redshift, QuickSight), optimizing for performance and cost.
- Experience with cloud-native solutions including microservices, serverless architectures, and container orchestration (e.g., ECS, EKS).
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools, including CloudWatch and New Relic.
- Experience with MAS's Technology Risk Management guidelines
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, Docker).
- Experience with container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, ECS).
