SPECIFIC
Clinical Patient-Care
Assist team doctors in receiving referral from within the department or from external parties.
Performs basic screening and assessments for baseline data to track improvement of patients condition.
Participate in outpatient clinic sessions, so as to be able to assist in the follow up management of patients.
Monitor and track patients highlighted by team doctors, including patients pathological and blood results of patients, and reporting suspected abnormalities to the team doctors for necessary follow up of treatment.
Advice and counsel patient on his/her care, to reinforce the information and advice given by their respective doctor
Attend ward rounds with team doctors to jointly manage patient care as planned
Ensure special investigations by doctors have been carried and treatments have been carried out accordingly for both inpatients and outpatients.
Carry out pre and post-operative counselling for the patient (in accordance to protocol).
Educate patient or caregiver on wound care and/or general care of patient
Assist doctors in specialized procedures, according to teams requirement.
Co-ordinate and liaise with the other departments on the required care ordered for the patient.
Co-ordinate clinic appointments.
Co-ordinate re-scheduling/ changes in operation dates and pre-operative assessments
To act as a contact point (or as specified by the department), should the patient require urgent medical advice.
Participate in support group meetings, if available.
Conduct follow-up calls to post-op patients and defaulter cases, especially cancer cases and various conditions that require close monitoring.
Clinical Research
Collate data for retrospective studies
Update and maintain sub-specialties database (number of database to be maintained is to be specified by individual subspecialty)
Co-coordinating clinical trials in TTSH and NHG
Assist with any other research projects within the department including liaising with Research Study Assistants of specialized Studies.
Service Quality
Maintains timely and accurate records of patients information, including inputs by doctors.
Participate and assist in preparing teams cases for presentation during weekly Tumour board meetings
GENERAL
Assist in co-coordinating programmes and training in the department and hospital, including public forums and medical examinations such as MBBS and FRCS.
Assisting the Department in rearranging teams cases according to Hospital managements directions, such as rescheduling cases during situational events
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
Attained professional qualification preferably in nursing (not necessary to be registered under SNB) or para-clinical disciplines
Diploma/Degree in relavent areas of studies
EXPERIENCE
Prior healthcare experience will be an advantage
Ability to work independently
Good knowledge of Windows-based software
Possesses good verbal and written communication skills
Possesses good interpersonal skills
