Job Description

Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Commercial Analyst LNG Gas Supply & Trading (GSAT) located in Duo Tower, Singapore through 2 September 2024 at 11:59 p.m. (Singapore Time).

Chevron Supply and Trading (S&T) provides a critical link between the market and Chevrons upstream, downstream and chemicals companies. Our trading professionals manage commodity transactions averaging five million barrels of liquids and five billion cubic feet of natural gas each day. Our activities are organized by crude oil, natural gas, and refined products.

Position summary:


The Commercial Analyst role supports Asia Pacific Gas Supply & Trading (GSAT), specifically LNG, in conducting market and fundamental analysis for maintaining a forward-looking market view, using data, tools and models, and communicating this view clearly and concisely to drive decision-making and identify new trade ideas to grow trading earnings.

Opportunity for the successful candidate to progressively get a wider and deeper understanding of the GSAT business and develop skills and knowledge over time that would make them suitable for many other roles and career paths within GSAT and with the wider Business & Commercial function.

We are looking for an experienced individual who is highly motivated, a team player, enjoys the challenge of finding commercial value from disparate sources of data, an effective communicator with an eye for innovation and continuous process and personal improvement.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:


Analyzes market fundamentals and pricing structures, trade flows, competitor production profiles and other industry information to support trading efforts

Model deal economics/analysis to identify feasible alternatives with tradeoffs.

Creates and maintain applicable models/ tools to develop forecasts and monitor market drivers (e.g., infrastructure, shipping flows, supply/ demand) to support trading strategies

Effectively present data insights and conclusions based on research and modelling with team of traders and other analysts to help formulate a market view.

Partners with other trading teams and analysts across the organization to share information, develop short term market views, facilitate analytical process improvements, and identify additional opportunities

Establish a network of contacts to enhance market intelligence and leverage these data sources to improve analyses and generate insights

Participates or leads commercial projects where required

Drives or participates in global and regional digital analytics projects or initiatives

Required Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree holder

2-5 years of working experience preferably in Oil & Gas Industry, Trading or Market data analytics related role. Experience analyzing commodity market fundamentals, with a preference for that to have been in LNG, gas or power markets would be advantageous.

Strong Analytical and Modeling Capability demonstrated ability to manipulate and analyze data sets and use economic models to test sensitivities and identify key value drivers all with minimal direction. Very proficient with analytical modeling tools, such as Excel, Power BI, etc.

Communication and Presentation ability to organize and summarize key information and able to leverage analytical, communication and presentation skills to influence and achieve optimum decisions. Able to communicate detailed analysis into a data story with a view of market/price action.

Teamwork demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross functional team environment and as an individual contributor.

Business Acumen - firm understanding of commercial discipline and market activities (e.g., commercial/trading acumen). Demonstrated ability to utilize decision analysis tools and processes to evaluate multiple options for solutions or proposals.

Ability to work in a diverse, high-pressure and fast-paced environment with very short deadlines.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Relocation Options:


Relocation will not be considered within Chevron parameters.

International Considerations:


Selected candidate will work in Singapore under the local payroll system and benefits.

Chevron participates in E-Verify in certain locations as required by law.
