Wilhelmsen Ships Service (WSS) is looking for a Commercial lead

The Commercial lead will be responsible for leading the development, structuring, and management of techno-commercial offers forenergy solutions. This role will require strong commercial acumen, maritime operational understanding, and the ability to craft compelling value propositions around energy solutionstailored to WSS customer needs. Ensuring suppliers and partner network can continually meet new cost, quality and regulatory requirements for generating competitive solutions offers. Ensuring smooth handover of commercial terms, agreed specifications and agreements to the executionorganization of WSS to ensure successful delivery / execution. Managing and leading a team of commercial managers after the expansion of the offer development group.

What you will work on:

  • Lead Offer development: Developing, structuring, and delivering comprehensive techno-commercial proposals that are both technically feasible and commercially viable.
  • Sales Support: Partnering with Sales, supporting Technical Salesand Business Development (TSBDM)during offer negotiations, providing guidance on the offer structures, and leading the internal approval process for releasing offerings.
  • Customer Engagement: Working directly with customers to understand their needs, pain points, and business drivers, ensuring that each new offer is customized to address specific customer needs and providing long-term value.
  • Support on Projects: Occasionally developing new offersontime-bound WSS initiatives and venture projects.
  • Pricing Strategy: Developing and implementing pricing models that align with market conditions and company margin guidance.
  • Market insights: Conducting and maintaining competitive analysis and market benchmarking to ensure our energy solutions offers are competitive whileadhering to company profitability guidance and energy solutions roadmap.
  • Risk Management: Identifying commercial, financial, and contractual risks in offers to attempt to mitigate those risks.
  • Contract Development: Collaborating with sales organization and legalteams togenerate contracts that reflect the terms of the commercial offer that are compliant with WSS policies and external regulations.
  • Quality and Compliance: Ensuring that all solution offers meet or exceed industry standards for quality, performance, and safety. Maintaining a strong focus on data privacy within the offer development involving external partners, suppliers, and customers to safeguard proprietary technologies and sensitive data.

Who you will work with:


The Commercial Lead will report to Business Director Energy Solutions. Working closely with legal, finance, product engineering, sales, marketing, digital, global procurement, senior management and execution teams to drivegrowth through well-designed, competitive offers for various WSS brands and initiatives that currently fall under Energy solutions and aligning offers with product capabilities, vessel configuration, technical requirements and cost structure.

What you need to succeed in the role:

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree or equivalent in Business, Finance, Maritime Studies, or related fields.
  • 7+ years of experience in commercial roles, ideally within the maritime logistics, or maritime technology sectors.
  • Proven track record of developing and closing high-value techno-commercial offers, preferably related to digital or PaaS products.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in proposals, contracts, and pricing structures.
  • Strong analytical abilities to structure offers, perform financial analysis with calculation of margin and return.
  • Strong understanding of the maritime industry, especially the digital transformation of ships, maritime supply chain logistics, and vessel operations.
