We are a discretionary, event-driven proprietary trading firm and hedge fund specialized in the digital asset space. We have performed extraordinarily well since inception
- 5 years ago: 9 figure AUM with 1,200%+ return vs 87.5% for BTC and Sharpe of 3.5+ vs BTC at 1.0.
We are hiring a Director of Operations / COO who has experience scaling a fast-growing fund like us (e.g. from 20 people to 100 people).
You've been in an early stage hedge fund (20 people) and are willing to get your hands dirty handling any function we haven't hired yet.
You can create structure for the entire back-office (fund accounting, HR, legal, compliance, risk, etc.). This includes day-to-day operations as well as setting the long-term structure and vision for each of these operational functions.
While these will be your key responsibilities, we are a startup and you will definitely be called upon to fulfill other requirements.
This is an opportunity:
To take up the #1 operational role at one of the fastest growing hedge funds in the digital asset space.
To manage the backoffice across a variety of strategies (discretionary and systematic and strategic/activist).
To get in on the ground floor of a successful and rapidly growing team in an asset class poised for growth. There will be advancement opportunities as we continue to expand.
Key Requirements
Necessities
We need someone who has the ability to put the groundwork, structure, and strategy in place for each operational function (HR, legal, compliance, risk, etc.) instead of just operating in a structure, checking boxes, or reporting back to HQ.

You must have already held a COO / Head of / Director of Operations role at a Hedge Fund. In this experience, you have experience creating structure for every subfunction rather than simply operating in a structure or simply creating structure for a single operational function.
Being able to double-hat as a CFO would be a huge plus. Have a CPA. Able to do financial control, cash management, financial forecasts.
You have 6-8+ years in a leadership role.
Nice-to-Haves
Understanding legal compliance, tax structuring in different markets is a plus.
Background in fundraising is a plus.
Experience building up a Systematic platform. Experience hiring and managing quants.
Experience building out in-house platform covering OMS/PMS/Risk systems.
Crypto experience.
Tablestakes
You need to be based in Taipei or able to travel to Taipei often (e.g. spend the initial few months in Taipei and after things are stable, travel once a month for 2 weeks).
Interview Process
CV Screening - Against the criteria above.
(Optional) Recruiter Call - If your CV needs additional screening.
Co-Founder/Partner Interview - To understand your experience and assess skill and cultural fit.
CIO Interview - Your direct manager, to assess skill and cultural fit.
(Optional) On-site Interview in Taiwan to meet with other key stakeholders
Throughout the process, you'll be assessed for cultural fit through our company values:
Drive - We believe the best team members are passionate about what they do, and that propels them to greater heights in their career. It drives them to be part of the best teams where they are exposed to the best ideas.
Ownership - We aim to give ownership interest to as many people in the firm as possible, but in return, we expect everyone to act like owners. Not my responsibility is a repugnant phrase to us.
Judgement - We look for team members who consistently look at the big picture and spend their time on the activities that most drive PnL. They are pragmatic with their time; they don't stick to their narrow domain if it doesn't move the needle.
Openness - We want a culture where we proactively share information with one another and challenge each other with constructive debate to reach the truth.
Competence - We value people with high intellectual horsepower. They have already become an expert in one or more domains and learn extremely quickly when in unfamiliar territory.
