The Programme for Research in Epidemic Preparedness and Response (PREPARE) is a national programme set up by the Ministry of Health (MOH) to support and strengthen Singapores key research capabilities, translational platforms, and expertise which can be harnessed to detect, respond to, and contain future infectious disease threats. The National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) serves as the administrative host of PREPARE. There are five co-operative programmes established under PREPARE. These co-operatives are supported by a national biorepository for clinical samples, tissues and associated data, and infectious diseases (ID) clinical and research databases.

The Analytics, Disease & Behaviour Modelling Co-operative Programme aims to:
  • grow long-term core expertise in modelling and data science specific to ID surveillance, early outbreak detection, as well as epidemic response and social behaviour modelling.

  • support social / behavioural research studies on factors that can improve acceptability and adherence to public health interventions.
    The Data Analyst is a key team member of the Analytics, Disease & Behaviour Modelling Co-operative. The Co-op is building a core data and research analytic team that will generate and provide empirical data, insights and academic publications in the area of COVID-19 and future infectious disease modelling.
    He/She will assist to process, manage and analyse data to derive insights that will inform policy and decision making for pandemic and pandemic preparedness. The Data Scientist will have opportunities to work with clinicians and academics as well as present his/her data at various relevant forums.

    MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    SPECIFIC
    The Data Analyst of PREPAREs Analytics, Disease & Behaviour Modelling Co-operative Programme will be involved in:
    - data extraction, cleaning, processing and management;
    - data analysis to support derivation of insights that can inform operations and policies in pandemic and pandemic preparedness;
    - preparing and presenting data and insights at various relevant forums;
    - collaborating with internal/external stakeholders such as academics and clinicians on academic publications.

    GENERAL

  • To perform other duties as directed by supervisor(s) including work areas not mentioned here but are within the scope of the Analytics, Disease & Behaviour Modelling Co-operative Programme.

    EDUCATION
    Bachelor degree in social science, economics, life sciences, computer science, engineering with some prior coursework in programming (Masters or PhD degree in these fields as well as in Public Health will have added advantage).

    EXPERIENCE

    Candidate must have:

    - deep interest in health-related research and analysis (prior working experience in data analytics, coding / programming would be a key advantage)
    - Knowledge of statistics
    - Knowledge and skills in either STATA, R or Python
    - Willingness to learn new techniques and skills.
    - Be able to work independently on the tasks assigned by the team leader.
    - Good interpersonal skills and works well in a team.
    - Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
