Viu is a leading pan-regional over-the-top (OTT) video streaming service operated by PCCW Media Group. It is available in 16 markets including Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Myanmar in Asia, the Middle East countries of Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and the newly launched South Africa.
We are seeking a talented and driven Regional Data Engineer (Growth) to join our team. This role is integral to supporting our growth marketing and CRM strategies by ensuring data accuracy and availability across multiple data channels, and at the same time leveraging advanced data science techniques to drive actionable insights.
Your Responsibilities and Impact
- Develop a holistic understanding of key data touchpoints and collaborate with cross-functional teams across Marketing, Growth, and Subscription to address data needs and deliver tailored end-to-end data solutions.
- Design and build simple, scalable ETL pipelines to ensure data is efficiently processed, stored and easily accessible for advanced analytics and machine learning initiatives.
- Work with data analysts and scientists to verify data accuracy from different sources, and ensure they are integrated seamlessly with our marketing platforms (e.g. CRM)
- Ensure dashboards and reporting flows are up-to-date and accurately tracking key metrics for markets needs.
- Maintain thorough documentation of data models, business logic, and data dictionaries to ensure clarity and consistency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- 2+ years of professional experience in data engineering/science, with a proven track record of building end-to-end data pipelines and developing data science models.
- Proficient in Python, SQL, and data visualization tools (Tableau, Looker Studio).
- Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms such as Databricks and Spark
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to take a big-picture approach to propose solutions that provide meaningful insights to stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences/stakeholders.
Skillsets That Are Relevant to the Job
- Extensive experience with Python in the area of data manipulation, automation, and data analytics is essential
- Proficiency in data processing frameworks: Experience with Databricks, Spark, or similar big data technologies
- Database technologies: Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Cassandra, DynamoDB). Working experience with Snowflake and Bigquery is a plus.
- Knowledge of Git and CI/CD tools are mandatory.
- Experience with data exploration and visualization tools, such as Tableau
