The Team
The Asia Non-Financial Risk (NFR) team provide 2nd Line oversights to the non-financial risk (including Operational Risk & Information Technology Risk) program for the Asia region.
The Role
Team Lead
Lead a team of location & product NFR specialists across Asia
Oversee non-financial risk strategies across location and products
Manage team activities to ensure effective risk identification, assessment, and reporting across Asia, considering local nuances and product specificities.
Product ORM
Establish direct working relationship through proactive stakeholder management with the head(s) of the First Line function(s) and their management team(s).
Assure the NFR framework is appropriately implemented in the product area, advise the first on maintaining an effective and robust governance and risk management structure.
Lead regional engagement on the product, cascade information to the relevant locations in a timely way.
Assure embeddedness of global control standards (or local equivalent) in all Asia locations
Advise the global functional head of local/regional risk matters.
As a Centre of Excellence for the product area, advise the Asia NFR and Wholesale Banking NFR team on matters related to the product area.
Governance & Advice
Maintain the NFR framework and manages it as a basis for operational activities.
Advise Senior Management and 1LoD NFR management functions on Non-Financial Risk framework matters.
Advise and support 1LoD on Non-Financial Risk set-up, procedures and measures.
Challenge, advise and help 1LoD in the field of Non-Financial Risk queries and the application of various Non-Financial Risk aspects within daily operations.
Identify and monitor relevant developments in the field, both within and outside the organization, and incorporates findings in policy and procedures.
Support running of local Non-Financial Risk Committee chaired by Country Branch Manager where applicable.
Risk Identification & Risk Assessment
Advise and challenge identified risks in conjunction with management and the 1LoD, with due regards for the interests of parties involved (bank, customer, third parties).
Provide expert risk knowledge and guidance on the business process and non-financial risks in area(s) of expertise.
Investigate risks and events, conducts desk research, researches individual cases and makes an analysis. Helps prioritize risks and performs assessments in conjunction with management.
Risk Mitigation & Risk Awareness
Guide and support 1LoD in the creation of an implementation risk mitigation plan.
Communicate policy and guidelines to management and employees.
Encourage risk awareness and a sense of responsibility among management and employees in relation to Non-Financial Risk.
Advise and assist in the implementation of new and updated Non-Financial Risk policy, procedures, and measures.
Point of contact for the reporting of and for queries relating to Non-Financial Risk events and issues.
Monitoring and Reporting
Check that the 1LoD is complying with Risk Appetite, and that Non-Financial Risks are being managed and escalated where necessary.
Monitor progress in Risk Mitigation activities, create reports and feed back to management of the business unit, second line and Operational Risk functional line.
Challenge & advise risk scores in Non-Financial Risk Dashboard reports, and lead discussions in local Non-Financial Risk Committee.
Requirements
Minimum 10 years relevant Non-Financial Risk / Operational Risk relating to and Risk Analytics experience preferably in financial institution
Degree or above with major in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related discipline.
Experience in Wholesale Banking products, processes, and controls
Familiar with risk event management, issue management, risk assessments, internal control testing methodologies, Key Risk Indicators, scenario analysis, risk analytics and reporting
Ability to analyze, collate and understand the business requirements
Strong organizing and project management skills
Ability to lead team and drive projects and initiatives
Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work on own initiative
A strong team leader and player with good interpersonal skills who is able to work well with others including senior management
High proficiency in spoken and written English
