POSITION SUMMARY:
ULI is committed to building mutually beneficial relationships with major corporations through high-value programs, events, and content. Reporting to the Executive Vice President, the Director, Business Development is responsible for all elements of corporate fundraising while also assisting in the alignment of core initiatives and ULI's corporate supporters.
Broadly, ULI is focused on identifying and unlocking opportunities to broaden and deepen corporate engagement both locally and regionally. This role will play a critical role in both building long-term relationships through a thorough understanding of the organizations business and activities. The Business Development Director will lead all marketing and BD related tasks, including pitches and proposals, managing deal collection processes, collateral, client events and roadshows, research, awards and raising the awareness of the brand and organization. The Director will also play a primary role in working with teams across ULI Asia Pacific including Membership, Events, Programmes and Local councils to support / lead / contribute to their business development efforts, to identify, develop, and qualify prospects through a systemic approach to lead discussions and ensuring follow up on actions are completed. The Director will be highly collaborative, have good communication, possess a good sense of humor, presentation skills, and excel at business development. In addition, the Director will be well organized, be an effective problem solver with an ability to interact with others with grace and ease under pressure.
Specific Responsibilities
Business Development
- Working with cross-functional teams, both regionally and locally, to c r e ate , generate and ex e cute a busi n e s s d e velop m e n t strat e gy that m e e t s s ales g o a ls and build a s u s t ain e d base of partne rs with a focus on securing corporate partners and sponsors, negotiati n g, f ul f illing and supporting lon g -t e rm c o r p orate e n ga g ement with ULI's s t r ategic prioriti e s.
- P r epare a n d track propo s als and q u a r t e rly reports t o m o ni t or all cor p orate funding activit i es and p r ogr e s s agai n st ta r g e t s .
- Engage in direct fundraising tasks, including prospect research, sales calls, and face-to-face meetings, and developing and writing proposals in order to achieve revenue goals.
- Prepare and deliver sales presentations and tailored proposals to clients , working with relevant team members to close the deal.
- C onduct market research & analysis of the market to identify trends and opportunities for expansion and share insights with internal stakeholders and team members
- Build and manage an eight - figure annual sales budget across multiple business line items to achieve revenue targets for the organisation .

CANDIDATE PROFILE:
Ideal candidates will be self-motivated and entrepreneurial, who brings a measurable track record of success in business development and/or client relationships; strong analytical, strategic planning, time management, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects; and exceptional team leadership skills coupled with a collaborative approach to developing and executing strategic initiatives. The candidate should have a genuine commitment to the mission of the Urban Land Institute.

- 6-8 yea r s of business development expe r ie n ce in t he p ubl i c or private s ector
- Experi e nce in a n d / or unde r s t an d ing of commercial real e s ta t e /issues of land use/universe of the built environment is u s e f ul but n o t r e qui r ed .
OTHER:
- Bachelor's degree . Alternatively, seasoned professional with client-facing experience of five years in lieu of undergraduate degree.
- Detail-oriented and analytical; Ability to multitask and excel in a fast pace environment
- Ideal candidates will have advanced communications and interpersonal skills, as well as Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills and proficiency working in databases.
