About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated individual to join our team as the Director of Jurong Pilot Plant. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the operations of our state-of-the-art pilot plant and chemistry development laboratories, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. You will lead a team of dedicated professionals and collaborate with various departments in R&D and Global Supply Chain to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
This role will report to the Vice President Global Clinical Manufacturing within Clinical Supply Chain and will be responsible in leading a cross-functional team of 57 people in the scale-up and manufacture of drug substance for clinical studies, secondary development and site stability batches.

Key Responsibilities:


Oversee the daily operations of the Jurong Pilot Plant, ensuring compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Lead and mentor a team of professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Develop and implement strategies to optimize plant performance and achieve operational excellence.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to support the development and scale-up of new products.
Identify and mitigate potential risks to plant operations, ensuring business continuity.
Manage the annual plant budget of > 10 million pounds, ensuring cost-effective operations and resource allocation.
Identify, develop, design and establish facilities to implement new modalities as required by the R&D portfolio. Manage capital projects up to 20 million pounds within the existing team.
Drive innovation and process improvements to enhance plant capabilities and efficiency.
Ensure timely and accurate reporting of plant performance metrics and progress towards goals.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and regulatory authorities. Stay updated with industry trends and advancements, incorporating best practices into plant operations.

Qualifications:


A strong educational foundation with a Bachelor's Degree in Life Science or Engineering is required.
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry, as well as an advanced degree is preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in a leadership role within a pilot plant, kilo lab or manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of safety, quality, and regulatory requirements in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry.
Proven track record of successfully leading and developing high-performing teams.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Experience in budget management and resource allocation.
Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
Knowledge of industry trends and best practices.
