A Snapshot
The Product Development Director will report directly to the Director, Product Management and work closely with the rest of the Technology team, making your mark in a number of ways:
- Drive the strategic direction for the product development of Owner Supplied Equipment in alignment with key business objectives: Meet or exceed our financial targets, be the preferred partner for tech and cloud in APAC, be the place where talent wants to be, and be a global leader in safety and sustainability.
- Be part of the overall Technology team efforts to create more sustainable, efficient and scalable data centres to serve our expanding customer needs.
- Examine existing technologies for marginal gain and commercial benefit. This will involve continuously working towards simplification and cost reduction of the AirTrunk product, whilst driving the decarbonisation efforts of the supply chain.
- Drive innovation within the product development function, across the company and externally within the data centre industry, our community and our partners. Research and explore the addition of new products to the OSE categories and collaborate with the masterplanning and design teams to future-proof AirTrunk's product offering, to fulfil customer requirements in a functional and innovative way.
- Investigate new and developing technologies across the wide spectrum of infrastructure industries and an in-depth understanding of our industry, our customers and our vendor's products and R&D initiatives., with a particular focus on clean energy technologies and energy storage systems.
- Drive consolidation and unification of products to drive the AirTrunk standardisation and speed to market philosophy.
- Manage the Owner Supplied Equipment Partnerships with all vendors. This will involve developing market and location-based intel around availability and costs and developing a strategy for standard product availability across all regional locations (Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea). This involves organising and chairing regular vendor meetings, visiting sites and manufacturing facilities.
- Manage the processes and documentation related with the technical specification, approval and continuous improvement of the Owner Supplied Equipment products as part of the overall AirTrunk product offering, ensuring alignment and collaboration with internal stakeholders (Customer Solutions, Design, Sustainability, Procurement, Construction and Operation)
- Maintain and upgrade data driven information repository and reporting mechanisms for the AirTrunk product
Your Day to Day
- Manage and expand a team of direct reports to deliver strategic initiatives & support project delivery efforts.
- Produce vendor briefs in order to develop designs from feasibility stage through concept, scheme and detailed design stages, ensuring continuity of design
- Inspection of new products and applications
- Involvement in Master Service Agreements MSA's, Non-Disclosure Agreements NDA's such that all contracts are current and ready for immediate signing.
- Liaise with Operations Team to include the most advantageous maintenance terms
- Assisting in the negotiating of beneficial commercial arrangements with vendors
- Assist the Construction and Procurement Teams in the procurement of OSE, tendering, TCO assessment, ordering and delivery.
- Ensure quality assurance and design checks are undertaken on the vendor OSE.
- Oversight of the technical aspects of direct procured equipment and facilitate their interface with the design team.
- Support the Design team with driving our kit of parts (standardised) OSE solutions
- Assist in the development of innovative, customer focused designs.
- Engage with Customers on their technical solutions as required
- Assist with the Commissioning processes and in particular the application of the OSE
Requirements
- You have successfully demonstrated Strong analytical skills to manage and explore data and to develop engineering solutions.
- Ideally 10 years + experience within infrastructure, utilities, manufacturing or data center design and operations, ideally with experience in prefabrication or modular construction
- Experience in the energy generation, distribution and/or storage industries will be considered as an advantage.
- Experience in a leadership or managerial capacity
- Ability to drive technical, logistical and economic implications of equipment procurement: CAPEX and OPEX.
- Experience in multiple APAC countries would be desirable, the successful candidate must be open to understanding new markets and learning local codes and regulations in these markets.
