Job Profile Summary

Trade & Commodity Finance (TCF) is a sector coverage business within ING's Wholesale Bank that is responsible for covering commodity trader clients. It is a global business with teams in Houston, New York, Geneva, Amsterdam, Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai and sits within the Commodities, Food & Agri sector.

Within TCF, the Global Merchants Group (GMG) manages relationships with large, global commodity traders. Our objective is to provide cutting edge financial solutions and advice to our clients across our markets by leveraging on the ING Differentiators - Sector Expertise, Global Network, Sustainability Pioneer.

We are looking for a Director who will be responsible for managing some of our key GMG clients in Singapore (both outbound and inbound) with focus on developing a strategic dialogue with the clients and developing non-lending (financial markets, capital markets, M&A) business with them.

The role would report to the GMG Lead, Asia Pacific and will be based in Singapore.

Job Responsibilities:


Act as global account manager for Singapore based GMG clients and local/regional account manager for inbound GMG clients.
Responsible for setting account strategy, driving business, meeting financial targets and managing risks.
An important part of the job would be to develop a strategic dialogue with clients at C-suite level and position the bank as a trusted advisor.
Collaborate with product partners (Financial Market, Capital Markets and Advisory, Transaction Services, Sustainable Finance), account managers in other regions and other internal stakeholders like Risk, Legal, Compliance, Operations to deliver the full bank to clients.
Manage end to end credit approval process, deal execution and portfolio monitoring.
Managing client due diligence (know-your-customer) processes.

What we're looking for:

12+ years of relevant working experience in the financial services sector.
In depth knowledge of and experience in the commodity financing industry; prior experience of managing Singapore based large commodity traders will be an advantage.
Ability to engage with clients at C-Suite level; and to manage multiple and senior internal stakeholders independently.
Sound understanding of banking products including Financial and Capital markets.
Sound judgement - ability to find the right balance with business and risks.
Self-motivated, entrepreneurial with a high degree of commercial drive and initiative to grow the business.
An effective team player with good interpersonal and communication skills; ability to coach junior team members.
Graduate or post-graduate degree holder in Business/Finance or other relevant disciplines.
