Purpose of the Job
Responsible for ensuring elderly clients safety in transportation while performing driving or escort duties. Possess a valid licence to drive the class of vehicle use during duty and maintains the vehicle in good condition regularly. Observe safety precaution on the road and ensure the safety of the elderly during transition.
Key responsibility areas
Driving Duties
- Strict adherence to traffic compliances and implement measures according to Active Ageing Centre and prevailing government agencies guidelines.
- Provide good customer service to clients and family members in transportation matters and coordinate with the team.
- Attend to basic care needs of clients.
- Ensure safe restraints of clients
- Drive or escort clients on transport to & from centre/clinics/medical institutions/outing destinations.
- Conduct general maintenance and cleanliness of the vehicle and in-vehicle equipment at all times.
- Send vehicle for ad-hoc or regular maintenance during non-operating days or hours.
- Assist to manage accidents, incidents and emergencies during transportation
- Assist in despatch duties like delivery of documents or collection of donations, donations-in-kind or office supplies.
Centre Support Duties
- Perform area cleaning like simple washing of showering/toilet facilities whenever necessary
- Assist in proper washing of utensils used by clients
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the gardens like sweeping of leaves/branches and clearing of fruit drops.
- Assist in watering of plants in the garden.
- Ensure vector control like regular inspection and clearance of stagnant water.
- Assist in simple repair works as well as supervision of some contractor works.
- Assist in visual checking of food, safe preparation and distribution of food.
- Implement safe strategies to manage different behaviours of clients.
- Assist clients and team in external outings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Centre Manager/Management.
Required qualifications and experience:
- Minimum Primary school education
- Possess valid Class 3/4 Driving License and/or Defensive Driving Certificate preferred
- Minimum 2 years of driving experience and assistance to elderly clients in a Senior Care Center or with similar setting.
Required Competencies:
- Physically fit and able to assist in lifting or transferring of clients and carry some heavy loads
- Ensure that road safety for elderly are observed and ability to complete the essential duties safely.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the local standards of agency.
- Must be able to do simple documentation of work.
- Able to converse in simple local languages and dialects.
- Reliable team member, possess positive work and good interpersonal skills.
