Job Description

CNA is seeking a full-time Editorial Assistant at its Shenzhen Bureau.

The successful candidate will provide editorial support to the bureau in order to give CNA's viewers the latest news and insights behind the headlines. You will also handle all administrative matters to ensure the smooth operation of the bureau.

Editorial responsibilities:


Monitor local language and English media news daily for developing and breaking news, and upcoming events
Research content, source for and set up interviews for news stories on request
Transcribe interviews
Monitor and take notes from news conferences
Translate news materials and interviews as needed
Assist correspondent with on-location tasks
Edit simple videos on request

Administrative responsibilities :


Manage bureau finances and payments, file monthly expense report
Manage legal and financial records
Manage logistics of work trips
Manage applications for accreditation and registration for events
Source for filming locations and obtain permits if necessary
Manage hiring and payment of freelancers when required
Source for, work with vendors and contractors to get good services and prices
Manage leave schedule and balance for all staff
Maintain a conducive office environment

Handle paperwork for the following in consultation with the bureau cameraman and correspondent:

Bureau's fixed assets, fittings, office, camera and studio equipment
Service contracts
Qualifications

Requirements:


Relevant degree or diploma
Work experience in media/journalism
Strong journalistic instincts with interest in and knowledge of political, social and current affairs in China
Detail oriented and excellent organisational skills
Ability to navigate multiple tasks simultaneously and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of basic video editing and filming
