Working Hours: 7 am to 4 pm (Mondays to Fridays)
Job responsibilities
Clinical services:
- Provide screening, identification and assessments for students with varying learning difficulties, particularly in the areas of reading, spelling, decoding, comprehension and writing.
- Identify and prioritize goals for intervention in collaboration with the student, families and the school team.
- Develop and implement individualized intervention plans (1:1 or small group intervention settings) that address the specific needs of each student.
- Provide consultation, individual and/or group evidence-based interventions and strategies to support students literacy skills.
- Conduct continuous evaluation to measure outcomes of therapeutic interventions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assessment, intervention and communication with families.
- Participate in developing protocols and clinical guidelines to improve services in conjunction with the Head of Student Support/Principal.
Coaching, Training & Programme Development
- Collaborate with the school's English Department to support the areas of teaching, curriculum planning, and/or development of resources and instructional materials.
- Conduct in-house training programs for internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide supervision and mentorship support to new / junior therapists.
Continuing Professional Development
- Stay current with the best practices in relation to the field of literacy interventions and evidence-based practices in relation to autism.
- Participate and engage in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
- Remain up to date with relevant organizational processes, policies and professional codes of conduct.
Job Holder requirements and attributes
- Possess at least a recognised degree from a recognised University, in any discipline area.
- Teaching qualifications or equivalent in Special Education is preferred
- Trained in specific learning approaches, such as Orton-Gillingham, Lindamood-Bell and/or other relevant remedial approaches.
- At least 1-2 years of experience in providing learning support to children with literacy challenges and/or learning support experience for students at Primary Level.
- Prior experience working in the field of special education and/or working with individuals with special needs is an added advantage.
- Good team player with strong communication, interpersonal skills and critical thinking, in order to effectively collaborate and provide person-centric services.
- Able to work independently and effectively.
- Strong command of English (written and spoken).
