As part of a regional team, embedded within a high-profile technology-sector client, the Crisis Manager will provide structured and unified incident command, manage large-scale events that may adversely impact people and business operations, and return the business to normal operations.
The role involves creating and implementing plans, developing and delivering training to senior leadership, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring effective communication during and after a crisis. The ideal candidate is politically savvy, adept at navigating highly stressful, fast-paced complex environments, and excels in relationship management.
This role can be based in Singapore, Bangkok, or Hong Kong. Candidates will require full work rights for the location in which they are applying.
Responsibilities:
Preparedness:
- Identify potential risks and crises specific to the South-East Asia region and the broader APAC region.
- Develop plans and processes tailored to regional nuisances.
- Maintain situational awareness and monitoring of the risk environment in APAC.
- Establish strong relationship with stakeholders in the region to increase program awareness.
Crisis Prevention and Preparation:
- Organize and conduct annual trainings such as table-top exercises, drills, and simulations with senior leadership.
- Maintain a Crisis Management Team roster with clearly defined roles and responsibilities.
Crisis Response:
- Act as the primary point of escalation within the South-East Asia region.
- Triage and advise the APAC Lead on the need for activation of the crisis response framework.
- Support crisis activations as directed by the APAC Lead
Post-Crisis Analysis and Recovery:
- Conduct After Action Reviews to assess the effectiveness of a response.
- Implement improvements based on lessons learned from crisis events.
- Support business continuity efforts and help the company recover and return to normal operations as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Political Science, International Studies, Risk Management, or related
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in crisis management, risk management, intelligence, security, government, or a related field.
- Exceptional knowledge of the risk environment in the South-East Asia region and APAC.
- Excellent writing skills (writing sample will be requested)
- Proven experience in managing high-pressure situations or crises.
- Outstanding communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders across multiple time zones.
- Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Certification in crisis management, business continuity, disaster recovery, or security (e.g., CBCP, CISSP, CISM, PMP, MBCI).
- Experience working at scale in large enterprises / blue-chip companies.
- Knowledge of other languages spoken within the South-East Asia region.
- Experience with crisis management tools and rapid notification systems.
