Introduction

ETH Zurich is one of the leading universities in the world with a strong focus on Science and Engineering. In 2010, it established the Singapore-ETH Centre (SEC) in collaboration with the National Research Foundation (NRF) of Singapore to conduct interdisciplinary research on pressing problems.

The Singapore-ETH Centre is home to a community of doctoral, postdoctoral and professorial researchers working in three main programmes: Future Cities Laboratory, Future Resilient Systems, and Future Health Technologies, and multiple research projects. The centre provides a multicultural and interdisciplinary environment to researchers working on diverse themes, with the shared vision of translating research to practical solutions for more sustainable and livable cities, resilient physical and social urban systems, and patient-centric healthcare systems.

Job Description

As an Executive, Events & Communications, you will be joining the SEC Corporate Communications team. We are looking for a committed team player responsible for implementing the communications strategy of the SEC as developed by the Corporate Communications Manager. You will be interacting with multiple stakeholders across the organisation and will be expected to form a solid understanding of the different research programmes and projects to be able to fully support their needs, as directed by your supervisor.

Your responsibilities will include the following tasks:

Events Management

  • Organise and facilitate Singapore-ETH Centre events and support other events where the centre is a partner (e.g., CREATE Symposium, ETH Global events)
  • Provide publicity support for events organised by the Singapore-ETH Centre's research programmes via social media posts & photography
  • Support colleagues in creating professional and successful ground-up events (e.g. project launch, project showcase, book launch etc.) through consultation on event management etc.
  • Manage speaking engagement requests by screening the requests, scoping the topics, identifying potential speakers, and briefing the speakers in collaboration with the Corporate Communications Manager

Social Media Content Management (Development & Campaign Support)

  • Implement social media content strategy that will increase engagement with existing audience and gain new audience
  • Conduct research analysis on industry trends and target audience needs to inform content development.
  • Create and schedule visual and multimedia content for social media platforms including LinkedIn, Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram & TikTok
  • Responsible for ensuring timely updates on all owned social media channels
  • Monitor and analyse the performance of content and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Stay up to date with content marketing trends and best practices and provide recommendations for improvements to content strategies.
  • Able to prioritize work to quickly create content for high-priority delegation visits on short notice
  • Develop campaign strategies for research programmes in close collaboration with the SEC Corp Comms Manager and Science Communications Coordinator
  • Prepare monthly social media metrics reporting to be delivered to SEC Corp Comms Manager
  • Develop strong relationships across research programmes to ensure efficient execution of deliverables

Videography

  • Supplement social media and internal communication efforts with bite-sized video packages
  • Develop and maintain a repository of b-roll across all research programmes and projects for media use
  • Proactively propose visual content creation to showcase research programmes & projects
  • Work with research programmes on content creation needs & advise accordingly

Design Work

  • Create visually appealing fact sheets, PowerPoint design, brochures (print & digital), posters (print & digital)
  • Responsible for updating the company's digital screens with relevant information for employees and visitors to view
  • Design electronic direct mailer (EDM) templates for research programmes & projects
  • Ad hoc duties as assigned by SEC Corp Comms Manager

Web Content

  • Responsible for keeping the company's website up to date with relevant information in coordination with research programmes & projects
  • Write, edit and proofread event posts for website
  • Proactively propose relevant refresh to content and appearance of website
  • Generate monthly reports on reader & viewership metrics with detailed analysis and actionable insights to inform strategic decisions

Qualifications

  • Minimum Diploma in: Graphic Design, Multimedia Arts, Visual Communications, Marketing, or a related field with a minimum 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Proven experience in graphic design, videography, social media, and multimedia content creation
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Davinci Resolve, After Effects) or similar software
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and their content requirements
  • Excellent creativity, storytelling, and visual communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Candidates with portfolios will be preferred
  • Experience working in Agile or other iterative project management methodologies
  • Knowledge of procurement processes and contract management
  • Familiarity with compliance and security requirements in digital projects
  • Previous experience in vendor selection and evaluation processes a bonus
