Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of FFA Trader located in Duo Tower, Singapore through 30 August 2024 at 11:59 p.m. (SGT).

Job Description Summary

The FFA Trader is a part of a global team of freight derivative traders who execute transactions that support the deployment of freight risk management solutions in Chevron Midstream and generate profit by trading on proprietary market views.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:


Collaborate with Charterers and FFA Traders in Houston, London, and Singapore monitoring derivative and physical freight markets to identify and execute trade opportunities.

Work with FFA team manage freight exposure:


Support Chevron Shipping by providing freight risk management strategies for Chevron Shipping's deployment of Operated and time charter tanker fleet.

Support Chevron Supply and Trading by providing freight risk management strategies associated with trading oil contracts and the underlying freight exposure.

Work with FFA Traders and Analysts to build, maintain and improve, or automate FFA trading models, understanding of the statistical relationships between different physical trade routes and liquid FFA trade routes.

Help the FFA team integrate FFA models, forward curves, and physical positions into a system that encapsulate the freight exposure and P&L in a robust manner.

Collaborate with the FFA team to communicate freight exposure management strategies and their application to relevant business strategies/ decisions to a variety of relevant stakeholders.

Provide relief and vacation coverage for FFA traders in other regions.

Job Requirements

Commercial: 3+ years of experience with trading forward freight agreements. Experience in the physical tanker market preferred.

Critical/Analytic Thinking: ability to synthesize key risk and return considerations underpinning decisions to drive better commercial outcomes. Strong statistical analysis and system building capabilities.

Collaboration and Communication: Set clear expectations and align on shared goals and outcomes with the global FFA team. Organize information effectively to convey key messages, effectively collaborates and communicates in a fast-paced diverse team environment.

Problem solving and analysis: Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems, identify trade opportunities and build/use models to test sensitivities. Very proficient with analytical modeling tools and ability to make improvements to tools to reflect changes in business requirements.

Delivers Results: Self-directed with the ability to effectively manage responsibilities with minimal supervision. Proficiently organizes and prioritizes activities. Demonstrated ability to execute on opportunities, to identify value drivers, to align stakeholders and to enable value creation.

International Considerations:


Selected candidate will be based in Singapore under the local payroll system and benefits.

Chevron participates in E-Verify in certain locations as required by law.
