Ready to take on a senior level finance role In this role, you will be responsible for managing financial operations related to inventory, optimizing cost controls, and delivering in-depth financial analysis to support decision-making across the business. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in retail finance, inventory management, and a keen eye for analyzing trends to help drive profitability and operational efficiency.

You will be responsible in -

  • Inventory Accounting & Management
  • Oversee all aspects of inventory accounting, including monthly inventory reconciliation, shrinkage analysis, and inventory valuations.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of inventory costs in line with GAAP standards, working closely with supply chain and warehouse teams.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels, turnover rates, and obsolescence, making recommendations to improve inventory efficiency and minimize holding costs.
  • Conduct physical inventory audits and support cycle counts to validate inventory data accuracy and address discrepancies.
  • Financial Analysis & Reporting
  • Provide detailed financial analysis related to sales, inventory performance, gross margins, and profitability by product line and store.
  • Collaborate with merchandising teams to analyze inventory KPIs (e.g., stock-to-sales ratio, sell-through rates) and recommend adjustments in purchasing or markdown strategies.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports, focusing on inventory-related costs and variances.
  • Develop and implement performance metrics and dashboards for inventory tracking and reporting to aid strategic decision-making.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process for inventory costs, analyzing historical data and trends to inform demand planning and purchasing decisions.
  • Monitor actuals vs. budget, analyze variances, and provide actionable insights to improve cost management and budget accuracy.
  • Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities for cost-saving measures across the supply chain, from procurement to distribution.
  • Implement best practices in inventory accounting processes and recommend improvements to financial reporting systems, collaborating with IT as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements, assisting with any audits as they relate to inventory management.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with operations, sales, and merchandising teams to align financial goals with inventory strategies.
  • Support the development of pricing and promotional strategies by providing data-driven insights and margin analyses.

You MUST have -

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in finance/accounting, ideally within retail, FMCG, or inventory-heavy industries.
  • Strong proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting, with a focus on inventory and cost accounting.
  • Expertise in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to communicate financial concepts effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
