The job as Finance Specialist

As our new Finance Specialist, you will become part of our professional and dedicated finance team, which strives to deliver the best possible service to our global stakeholders. As a Finance Specialist focusing on the APAC Region, you will be the focal point to handle and assist with various aspects of the business, including legal, market access, treasury, and financial matters, with support from highly skilled specialists. You will be responsible for all financial matters in the APAC region, working closely with the VP of APAC Trading based in our Singapore office. This role offers you the opportunity to apply your financial expertise across a variety of disciplines. At MFT Energy, being a Finance Specialist is all about navigating data and financial standards. Ideally, you excel in data management and are proficient in IFRS standards. However, we are open to candidates who excel in one area and are keen to learn the other.

Your key responsibilities

• Financial ownership of trading-related activities and P/L reconciliation
• Manage AP and AR, ensuring that counterparts are settled timely
• Ensuring trade data is correctly registered, in close collaboration with our technology team and business controllers in Denmark.
• Optimize and formalize financial processes
• Participate in monthly and yearly closing of the financials, including bookings in cooperation with our external accountants
• Responsible for the yearly audit and tax review process.
• Point of contact for counterparts, TSOs, government authorities, auditors, and insurance
• Close collaboration with the Legal, Treasury, Market Access, Risk, and Technology team

Your qualifications and personal skills

We are looking for a Finance Specialist who is independent, proactive, and service-minded, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality and timely results. These characteristics are core, as you will be the enabling factor for the smooth expansion of the APAC business. More specifically, we imagine that you have:

• Singapore PR or national citizenship
• Basic level of Japanese and an understanding of the cultural differences
• Relevant educational background within finance or business administration
• At least 4 years of experience in an audit firm or a finance function (preferably in a global organization)
• Basic skills in SQL
• Experience working with IFRS is an advantage
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail
• The ability to work independently and structure your workload
• A winning mentality and a willingness to take on responsibility.
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written, as our company language is English

MFT Energy in APAC

MFT Energy is headquartered in Aarhus, Denmark, where the Finance team is based. All financial matters are managed from this central location. Our Finance team collaborates closely to ensure our trading teams receive high-quality service and business support.

As MFT Energy is expanding in the APAC region, particularly in Japan, there is a growing need for local support functions. We have successfully implemented regional support functions; Risk and Technology are managed from our Singapore office, with additional support from Aarhus.
