Job Description & Requirements
The role holder will be involved in the finance team of a banking firm in Singapore, as well as in various ad hoc projects.
The individual will work closely with multiple internal and external stakeholders, including the CFO, actuaries, onshore and offshore teams, and other finance functions, to ensure that all reporting requirements are met to the highest standards and within the strict deadlines imposed by the banking firm's head office.
This role offers a valuable learning and development opportunity for the right candidate, with exposure to Insurance Finance BAU processes and ongoing projects across the region. It also provides a platform to broaden and strengthen the candidate's knowledge of both business processes and activities, as well as gain experience in the controls aspects of finance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead in-depth local requirements analysis and elaboration to drive best-in-class business and service under the finance function.
- Define and scope requirements analysis for new initiatives, working with in-country and global teams.
- Ensure that all local regulatory and product requirements are met and captured by working closely with local teams.
- Support the Financial Reporting capability by updating processes and artifacts impacted by future operational design.
- Collaborate with a broader Finance Operations and Finance Change Delivery team.
- Work with various stakeholders to ensure the quality of data that flows into the general ledger.
- Assist in providing and reviewing requirements for Finance projects.
- Maintain a broad knowledge of cash management and interbank fund transfer functions.
- Understand the implementation of end-user controls.
- Collaborate with Group, Regional, and other impacted stakeholders to implement processes that support key stakeholders from Financial Reporting, Operations and Change Delivery teams.
- Provide guidance and support to the broader Finance team on a wide range of issues.
- Work with the Finance Management team to understand the risks involved and support the Assurance reviews to ensure coverage of key controls.
- Have a good understanding of end-to-end Finance functions in an insurance business to support ongoing transformation projects or product launches.
- Provide deep and broad subject matter expertise.
- Provide input to Business Case preparation as needed, offering context and data to underpin assumptions.
Requirements:
- A background in finance, with experience in financial reporting.
- Broad understanding of accounting principles.
- Good understanding of Risk & Control processes and how they can be enhanced.
- Familiarity with the relevant internal risk management frameworks, including operational risk policies, SOX framework, and knowledge of the regulatory environment in the financial services sector.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage various stakeholders while meeting competing deadlines.
