Forensic Psychologist/Senior Forensic Psychologist

Job Description

As a member of a multi-disciplinary team of mental health professionals, you will provide forensic psychological services for both inpatients and/or outpatients within the forensic psychiatric services of IMH. This may include providing psychological assessments and interventions to patients with mental health disorder, and forensic history.

For the positions of Senior Forensic Psychologists, you will lead and provide supervision to staff and participate in the carrying out clinical duties as and when necessary.

As a forensic psychologist in the Psychology Department, you will be expected to:

  • Conduct comprehensive forensic psychological assessments, including intellectual, neuropsychological, personality, psychopathy and risk assessments
  • Develop and implement individualised treatment plans, incorporating evidence-based interventions
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient individual as well as group psychotherapy for patients/remandees with mental health condition and forensic history
  • Provide supervision for forensic therapy cases and psychological assessments
  • Provide expert testimony in court proceedings, as needed
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team members, including doctors, nurses, medical social workers and other allied health professionals
  • Contribute to mental health promotion programmes and psychological duties within the institute's framework
  • Ensure proper documentation and referral management
  • Participate in or conduct research

The above job description is not a comprehensive list of the duties involved and consequently, the position holder may be required to perform other duties as appropriate to the position which may be assigned to him/her from time to time and to contribute to the strategic plans of IMH Psychology Department and Forensic Department.

The Requirements

  • At least a Master's in Forensic Psychology/ Master's in Clinical Forensic Psychology that is recognised by Singapore Psychological Society
  • For the Senior Forensic Psychologist, preferably with 5 to 8 years of relevant working experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a multi-disciplinary approach in hospital and Prison settings
  • Experience in forensic work will be an advantage
  • Accreditation, registration or license for practice with an established or recognized psychological professional body will be an advantage
