About The Team:
Our Global Legal Compliance (GLC) team provides key support for all of ByteDance's innovative initiatives, state-of-the-art products, and integrated platforms servicing our global markets. We help our technological and business teams enable their vision by providing integrated legal compliance guidance and support.
We are looking for an experienced Compliance Counsel to join our Global Legal Compliance team in Singapore. This is a global role and the successful candidate will be supporting our global Anti-bribery & Anti-corruption (ABAC) compliance programs to establish and improve the company's overall compliance environment. The ideal candidate will have direct experience in anti-corruption/anti-bribery, third-party risk management, familiarity with due diligence best practices, conducting internal investigations and developing data-driven compliance solutions. This is a fast-paced, global environment, with the opportunity to work on challenging novel issues across a variety of jurisdictions with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Advise on and manage compliance projects relating to Anti-bribery & Anti-corruption (ABAC) globally.
- Provide timely legal advice on requests from internal stakeholders on ABAC-related topics.
- Manage, enhance, and implement ABAC compliance policies and procedures.
- Support and enhance Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) program, as well as assist with compliance due diligence in mergers & acquisitions.
- Design and enhance ABAC compliance programs with a data driven mindset and approach.
- Develop strategic approach to compliance training and company-wide communications regarding ABAC compliance and deliver the training and implement communications plans to increase ABAC compliance awareness.
- Collaborate cross-functionally within the Global Legal Compliance team and multiple business verticals, including Procurement, Internal Audit, Risk Control, Product, Ethics Office and regional legal teams, to drive compliance initiatives and address legal compliance risks related to business initiatives and product launches.
- Undertake special projects and support other compliance program initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Qualified to practice law in the U.S., the U.K., Singapore, or other common law jurisdictions.
- Relevant regional or global legal compliance experience gained across private practice and in-house.
- Possess a deep understanding of the substance and nuances of ABAC laws and regulatory guidelines, able to independently identify and evaluate legal risk in business contexts and make well-informed recommendations.
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, including navigating leadership, internal stakeholders, and external partners and exercising sound compliance judgment in a complex and challenging environment.
- Possess the highest standard of ethics and a positive attitude in learning and willing to pick up new knowledge and skills.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
- Willingness to travel and work across different time zones.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the Techonology industry is a plus.
- Comfortable working with data & possess a data-driven mindset
