The Group Managing Director is responsible for the overall success of the Pacific Asia region, driving business growth, and delivering innovative strategies
This individual will lead the management team, develop long-term strategies, and foster strong relationships with key stakeholders to achieve financial and business objectives
Develop and implement the company's vision, mission, and long-term strategic plan to drive growth and profitability
Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure the smooth and effective operations of the Pacific Asia region
Set financial objectives and manage the company's budget, ensuring that revenue and profitability goals are met
Analyze financial performance and make recommendations for operational improvements and cost efficiencies
Analyze problematic situations and occurrences and provide solutions to ensure company survival and growth
Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and partners, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction
Mentor, coach, and lead the management team, ensuring that all employees align with the company's culture and goals
Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment, promoting innovation and teamwork
Lead negotiations for major contracts and strategic partnerships
Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and meetings with potential clients and stakeholders
Requirements
Minimum of 15 years of professional experience, with at least 10 years in a leadership role overseeing operations in the book retail industry
Proven experience as Managing Director or other senior management position with a strong understanding of business and retail operations
Degree in any discipline
Strong financial acumen and experience in managing budgets and resources
Excellent organisational and leadership skills
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
Thorough knowledge of market changes and forces that influence the company
Experience in developing and implementing educational business strategies.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead diverse teams
Fluent in English and Japanese language (Business level in both spoken and written) as incumbent would be required to communicate with HQ in Japan.
Ability to build strong working relationships with stakeholders.
