We are actively seeking a dynamic broker that matches the following criteria.
ESSENTIALS
- Must have at least 3 - 5 years experience as a Handysize/Supramax shipbroker
- Must have experience of broking Asian controlled business directly into European clients.
- Must have their own portfolio of European clients.
- Must have experience working in a European shipbroking office.
- Must have a fluent command of German as well as English as a business language, in particular fluency in the language, terms and abbreviations used in shipping to negotiate and conclude business without hindrance.
- Must speak one other European language.
- Must have experience of using AXS Marine.
- Desirable and prefer to have experience as a seafarer

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Minimum Daily contact with ship owners and/or ship operators and/or trading houses and/or miners and/or end users within the dry cargo market to provide insight, market intelligence and information.
- Maintain up to date, detailed record of ship positions, cargo enquiries and market information and fixtures within AXS Marine and other software.
- Maintain, nurture, and support existing lines of business by providing best in class service consistent with the company's values and standards.
- Negotiate the main terms of shipping contracts and ensure their performance in close coordination with the operations department.
- Maintain and build close relationship with the other departments within the company, FFA, Research, S&P, and other desks to provide yourself and your clients with the best information and market understanding.
- Initiate, create, and build new lines of business by identifying emerging market participants.
- Write daily market report capturing the essence of the day's activities and offering opinion of the market going forward.
- Act in accordance with the team working ethos of the company by constructively sharing information and insight that will support the ability of your colleagues to perform their jobs as well as you would wish for yourself.
COMPENSATION
- 5 days work per week but expected to work overtime when necessary.
- Salary is to be determined according to experience and qualifications.
- Bonus: Performance related & discretionary.
