The Opportunity:
We are looking for a senior risk expert to join the APAC Risk Team as Head of Insurance and Financial Risk. This role will report to the Head of Risk, APAC and work closely with BU Country CROs, Finance and Insurance functions, carrying out 2nd line reviews of insurance and finance risk topics, and providing risk-based insights to senior stakeholders. The role has responsibility for governance, oversight and review of insurance and financial risk, and provides strategic and operational leadership, including the professional development of APAC risk management staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Acting as an independent Risk adviser to P&C and Life insurance functions, providing Risk challenge and review this includes engaging in and providing independent challenge in insurance functions decision-making processes, as well as the review and challenge of governance, assurance activities and model validation (as required)
- Overseeing development, maintenance and embedding effective Risk Governance (inc. ZRP manual, ICIF) relating to insurance risk and financial risk including model risk as required
- Leading and delivering independent top-down analysis and assessment of insurance risks(including specific targeted deep dive analyses & scenarios) including review of methodology and approaches, and producing reports and documentation
- Leading, delivering and overseeing the annual plan risk assessment process
- Leading the analysis of the Z-ECM capital analysis for the APAC BUs providing detailed insights into the key drivers of capital consumption
- Providing professional support and advice to BU CROs including risk insights and implications for the business
- Participating in APAC key projects by providing subject matter expertise or leading a project work stream
- Communicating and engaging with the Group Risk Management team
- Mentoring and developing other professionals within Risk Management, providing input to or leading APAC training and people development initiatives
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Qualified actuary in a recognized actuarial body (P&C or Life Insurance)
- Strong P&C or Life Insurance background
- 10 or more years of relevant work experience
- Good experience with Risk Management Frameworks
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
