XCL World Academy is seeking to appoint a Head of Mathematics / Secondary Years Mathematics Teacher. This is a full-time position starting from 1 August 2025.
Preference will be given to teachers who have relevant subject-specific IB MYP and DP experience, as well as a clear track record of superior teaching in international school settings.
The Head of Department role is an added responsibility to the teaching position.
Main Responsibilities
- Teachers should be willing to contribute positively to the collaborative culture of the department and broader SY Team.
- Demonstrates to professional ethics, international mindedness and the school's mission.
- Adheres cooperatively to XCL policies and regulations, including duties, deadlines, programme requirements (IB).
- Seeks clarification in case of lack of clarity to fully meet all expectations of the role and sets and maintains high standards of professionalism.
- Contribute to the development of curriculum and assessment documentation.
- Show exemplary attendance to work, recognizes the importance and provides support for XCL extended school day activities.
Main Responsibilities - Head of Mathematics
- Assists new and existing staff members in orientation of subject, programme and/or grade level curriculum.
- Leads an ongoing review of curriculum development and alignment within the department.
- Coordinates department's assessment calendar to ensure a balanced spread of assessment deadlines through the academic year, adhering to deadlines, laid out by the curriculum coordinators.
- Ensures the standardization of assessments and maintains accurate records of this process.
- Assists the department in the development of learning targets for students.
- Actively collaborates with other Heads of Department in ensuring horizontal and vertical curriculum and skills alignment for all students.
- Complete tasks directed by the Senior Leadership division, that would come under reasonable expectations of a department leader.
- Sets departmental goals that align with the vision and mission of the school.
- Provides guidance and support with regards to goal setting, monitoring of goals progresses for each individual staff member and conduct reflection meetings with team members.
- Facilitates and contributes to discussions and decision making as part of the curriculum leadership team.
Person Specifications
- Undergraduate degree from a recognized university or college.
- Possess skills and attitudes aligned to the purpose, mission and vision of XCL World Academy.
- Need clear eagerness, resilience and understanding to engage and collaborate in the development of a highly aspirational school.
- Teaching experience and professional certification specific to applied position.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as a class teacher, preferably in an international K-12 school, IB Programme experience.
- Leadership experience in leading a department and performance managing employees.
- Have demonstrated commitment and education and learning beyond the classroom.
- Be flexible and willing to take on new challenges.
- Salary commensurate with experience (International School) and according to the School's teaching scale.
