Role Profile
We are looking for an experienced sanctions compliance professional to join the LLI team as Head of Regulatory Affairs APAC and play a key role in driving our growth.
Bringing extensive market knowledge and subject matter expertise, the right candidate will extend our reach across the APAC region generating commercial opportunities by engaging with regional regulatory agencies, develop customer understanding across LLI, and generally support the Global Head of Compliance & Regulatory Affairs.
This is an excellent opportunity to leverage your market knowledge and proven track record in managing sanctions compliance or risk evaluation/mitigation processes in the financial services or shipping sector, to support and drive ambitious growth plans.
This is a permanent role, reporting to the Global Head of Compliance & Regulatory Affairs. This role is balanced working model between home and office, located in Singapore.
Key Responsibilities
Brand building and thought leadership
Build relationships with key regional regulators, industry associations and bodies, and specialist consultants to further understand the market landscape and raise awareness of LLI as a maritime data and analytics partner.
Present at industry conferences, participate in-house webinars, facilitate sector-focused customer advisory groups to understand of how LLI can help.
Work with editorial and marketing colleagues to create thought leadership content that outlines and discusses market challenges and showcases our services as part of the solution.
Ensure regional teams are communicating to customers in a consistent, relevant, and compelling way, aligned to the global LLI strategy.
Expand our market reach and share
Make introductions in the market and generate contacts for sales and marketing.
Collaborate with the commercial teams to curate and close sales opportunities to achieve shared targets by driving understanding of regional regulatory regimes and procedural nuances.
Support Product Management by identifying relevant customers/prospects for customer discovery/feedback discussions.
Act as the regional subject matter expert and in meetings with customers and internally to help explore opportunities and progress deals.
Understand the market landscape
Build a strong understanding of the target market's interaction with, and use of, key consultants, systems integrators, trainers, and software to support risk and compliance workflows.
Present findings and insights to drive commercial choices and strategy.
Document and share competitor product insights to understand market landscape.
Track and translate changes in the market conditions, regulatory landscape, and factors that would impact our strategy and plans.
Secure customer feedback
Engage with clients and prospects to explore customer needs and obtain feedback on potential product, partnership, customer support ideas, and general industry insights.
Provide feedback on customers changing workflows and needs.
Be aware of how well customers understand our messaging and help position pitches based on insight collected from customers and prospects and suggest improvements.
Ensure content and messaging in webinars/sales/marketing materials is relevant and includes customers challenges and needs.
What we are looking for:
Essential
At least 7 years experience in a team directly managing sanctions compliance or risk evaluation (trade finance operations, financial crime monitoring, money laundering, KYC and counterparty risk, within financial services or the shipping industry).
Acting as subject matter expert in your organisation and the industry.
Experience implementing policies and procedures, automation, and other resources to identify and mitigate compliance risk.
Proven ability to deliver outstanding and memorable face to face and online industry presentations, making the complex simple.
Carrying out market research and assessing the viability of projects and plans.
Driving the creation of industry relevant thought-leadership content.
Proven track record of leading effectively in a matrixed organisation.
Good project management skills.
Business case creation skills.
Agility and flexibility to work across a global institution.
Desirable
Comprehensive understanding of US, UK, EU, and UN sanctions in addition to financial and legal transactions in the maritime industry.
Proven track record in playing a role in supporting sales through a complex sales cycle.
Ability to identify new revenue opportunities and maximize product potential.
An excellent written and verbal communicator, able to build successful relationships both internally and externally.
Experience using CRM systems (salesforce is preferable).
Additional languages an advantage.
