Overall purpose of role:
This is a senior role with responsibility for leading the Global Transaction Banking business with dual local reporting into the Head of International Corporate Banking, based in Singapore, and the Global Head of Transaction Banking, based in the UK. Key Accountabilities
Role holder will be responsible for leading the Global Transaction Banking business aligned to Asia Pacific & Middle East, providing strong compliance and regulatory focus and ensuring excellence in product delivery
Accountable for leading the Global Transaction Banking capability build within the region, with a strong product and technology background and proven track record of working closely with technology and operations partners to deliver large scale product and platform enhancements and builds. This will include managing complex projects and driving accountability and delivery
Lead and guide the specialist sales teams within the Asia Pacific & Middle East by building on the partnership with local relationship teams while maintaining close linkage with the global product organization as well as with ICB regionally
Foster a high-performance client centric culture through skilled people management and encourage employee engagement and motivation
Contribute to Global Transaction Banking strategic development and execution of a compelling client value proposition to support ICB in building long term client relationships
Develop a culture that considers client experience in all stages of the product lifecycle from development through to closure and contributes key information to global client satisfaction teams
Ensure appropriate people development and training to establish a diverse and collegiate team culture, with a supportive approach to cross departmental and global co-operation
Interact at c-suite level within the Barclays Asia Pacific & Middle East business with the ability to deputise for the Head of International Corporate Banking locally when required
Develop business level dashboards and appropriate metrics to determine performance which clearly aligns with wider international reporting
Represent Global Transaction Banking at local governance committees and forums and act as a champion for the department to ensure key objectives are prioritised appropriately
Close alignment with credit and control colleagues to ensure risk associated with the existing portfolio and new deal flow is well managed
Person Specification Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:
Knowledge of the corporate banking business for the Asia Pacific & Middle East region, with specific focus on Global Transaction Banking and in determining client propositions
Experience to have led large scale transformation project(s) to develop and deliver Global Transaction Banking platforms, with good coordination with Operations, Technology and other Functions partners
Strong negotiation skills and the ability to conduct interactions with a broad range of senior stakeholders including International corporate banking senior leaders, external Asia Pacific & Middle East regulators and key clients to ensure that we are developing strategic product design to support regional Global Transaction Banking growth
Strong leadership to motivate, direct and manage an experienced leadership team with strong technical skills
Experience of developing strategy and implementing change across a substantial business or portfolio
Personal resilience and the ability to make sound judgement calls relating to strategic decisions under time pressure
Comprehensive knowledge of Global Transaction Banking product lifecycle from design to specialist sales
Comprehensive knowledge of the broader industry and competitors to ensure effective strategy development and differentiation
Strong Control background with track record of regulatory engagement
Strong data and analytical skills- able to leverage extensive research and data including economic insights, competitor insights and client feedback to support product innovation and future strategic development to enable Global Transaction Banking growth across domestic and inbound and outbound business.
Strong communication and influencing skills with both internal and external stakeholders to drive strategy implementation
