Purpose and Scope

Sembcorp Industries Ltd is a leading energy and utilities company headquartered at Singapore. We are committed to delivering sustainable solutions that meet the world's growing energy needs while addressing environmental challenges. Our Group Center of Excellence (GCOE) provides technical advisory services to support various business units across all countries during project development and serves as Level 2 assessors for the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) phase. We focus on achieving Consistency through the development and implementation of policies and standards, as well as driving Excellence in our operations and project execution.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Head of Solar Technology is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the solar technology strategy, development, and implementation across our global operations. This role will lead a team of solar technology team members based in Singapore, China, and India, ensuring that our solar projects are designed, executed and maintained with the highest technical standards, consistency, and excellence. The role will also play a critical part in advancing our renewable energy initiatives and supporting the company's growth in the renewable energy sector.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Technology Strategy & Development

  • Develop and implement the company's solar technology strategy in alignment with business objectives and industry trends.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement in solar technology across all projects and operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate solar technology advancements into project design and execution.

2. Technical Advisory & Support

  • Provide expert technical advisory services to business units during the project development phase.
  • Serve as a Level 2 assessor during the O&M phase, ensuring compliance with established policies and standards.
  • Ensure that all solar projects meet the highest technical standards and contribute to the company's sustainability goals.

3. Policy & Standards Development

  • Develop, implement, and maintain solar technology policies, standards, and best practices to ensure consistency and excellence across all projects.
  • Collaborate with other departments within the Group Center of Excellence to align solar technology initiatives with broader company objectives.

4. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote the adoption of best practices and innovative solar technology solutions.
  • Represent the company at industry forums, conferences, and events to stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in the solar energy sector.

5. Project Oversight & Risk Management

  • Oversee the technical aspects of solar projects from conception to completion, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget, and with the desired quality.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks associated with solar technology deployment.

6. Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and manage a team of solar technology specialists based in Singapore, China, and India.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team.
  • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for team members.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Renewable Energy, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Science).
  • Proven track record in solar project development and operations, with a minimum of 10 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of solar photovoltaic systems, grid integration, and O&M best practices.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a global, cross-functional team environment.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and environmental considerations in the solar industry.
  • Stellar stakeholder management skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in leading teams in a fast-paced environment across multiple locations.
