SGX (Jan - June 2025) Fall Internship Programme

Sustainable Development Office
1) SPO
Brief Overview:
SPOs remit is to improve RegCos effectiveness through a whole-of-Regulation approach. Key activities include (i) horizon-scanning to detect and anticipate developing and incipient trends in the regulatory space, (ii) coordinating with other RegCo teams to identify and prioritise areas of focus, and facilitate the planning process that sets the basis for work planning and the development of roadmaps for the medium to long term, (iii) working alongside the communications team on public communications.
Learning Objectives:
The selected intern will learn how SGXs regulatory arm reviews and develops regulatory policies to meet the needs of the market. The selected intern will be exposed to different facets of SGXs business and long term strategic initiatives as SPO works concurrently on multiple projects with various internal and external stakeholders.
Job Description:
Assist in:
Internal monitoring e.g. compiling and enhancing indicators of the health of our market, and developing follow-up actions to mitigate any areas of concern
Redesign and enhancement of Knowledge Management systems
Researching developments in international and regional securities / derivatives markets, especially regulatory developments, and analyzing financial market trends (commercial and regulatory)
Studying specific market / regulatory incidents, e.g. meme trading, instances of alleged/potential market manipulation to understand their potential implications for SGX and develop policy recommendations
Cross functional projects relating to sustainability and climate change
Preparing public communications (speeches, media releases)
Knowledge and Skills requirements:
Must have good command of English
Must have basic knowledge of financial markets
Research and report writing skills
Familiarity with Excel. Knowledge of S&P CapIQ is a plus.
2) LPPA
Brief Overview:
The Listing Policy & Product Admission team develops the regulatory listing policy of SGX and manages the SGX Listing Manual
The team responds to public consultations relating to listing policy conducted by public authorities and international organizations. On an on-going basis, we engage with stakeholders to gather feedback useful to the formulation of rules and policies.
The team is also responsible for reviewing and approving new listing applications for debt securities, exchange-traded funds, non-traded investment funds and structured warrants listed on SGX.
Learning Objectives:
The intern will be exposed to the process of making rule amendments, from identifying the problem, researching on precedents, defining policy intent, jurisdictional comparisons, engaging with stakeholders, etc.
The intern will also create and maintain databases for the purposes of policy analysis.
Job Description:
Assist in research for practices in other jurisdictions.
Design and develop repository to record policy decisions taken by Listing Policy & Product Admission
Knowledge and Skills requirements:
Must be able to distil key points for voluminous information
Experience with designing user-friendly databases a plus
Understanding of stock markets

3) Sustainable Development Office
Brief Overview:
The Sustainable Development Office coordinates regulatory efforts to promote the availability of corporate sustainability disclosures to investors and other stakeholders in a comparable and trusted manner, and implements initiatives to advance the sustainability performance of listed issuers. The team also participates in standards-setting projects and builds awareness and capability within the ecosystem.

Acquire an understanding of sustainability frameworks and standards.
Acquire skillsets in analysing and reviewing proposals for changes to regulatory rules.
Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders through various engagement/outreach efforts and contribution towards sustainability-related priorities.
Job Description:
Conduct research on the global sustainability reporting landscape (eg. updates on global frameworks, standards, jurisdictional initiatives), sustainability trends and issues.
Assist in reviewing proposals for changes to the regulatory rules, to align with global developments.
Develop action plan(s) to support sustainability training capacity-building efforts for listed companies.
Work closely with internal stakeholders across multi-disciplinary teams to support sustainability-related project(s) and initiatives.
Contribute to thought leadership through maintaining a database on sustainability-related trends and developing relevant regulatory communications.
Support the team on stakeholder engagements with companies, industry associations, international organisations and other partners.
