Responsibilities
- You will be part of the News team that produces the daily news bulletins across all platforms
- As a reporter, you will be given assignments to cover. These will cover a range of areas, including events focusing on the Indian and Tamil-speaking community. The roles involves research, scripting, interviewing, filming, editing and packaging stories for the TV bulletin. You will also be required to file stories for radio and digital/social platforms
- As you hone your reporting skills, you will be working on your self-initiated stories
- You will also be on the editing team to write stories and cut visuals for the TV bulletin
- You must understand the role of Tamil News in the wider community
- You must be able to write fast and in an engaging fashion to ensure our content appeals to our audience
- You may also be involved in projects and duties assigned by the Chief Editor
Qualifications
- Good university degree or polytechnic diploma
- A keen news sense and a strong interest in local and international news as well as current affairs
- Have a good command of Tamil, both written and spoken
- Connections with key personalities and influencers within the Indian/Tamil-speaking community are valuable assets for this position
- Uphold and maintain high standards of accuracy, objectivity and timelines
- Be a team player as your role requires close coordination with newsroom colleagues as others across Mediacorp
- Basic filming and video editing skills are a plus
- A dynamic individual who is a team player with good communication and interpersonal skills
- You will be rostered for duties which will also include shifts and work during public holidays and weekends
