Job Summary
To manage the personnel and overall operations in the geotechnical laboratory.
Ensure that all testing, and related activities, are performed as efficiently as possible in relation to given deadlines and are consistent with relevant processes and procedures.
Maintain the highest levels of safety and testing standards in accordance with Company procedures and QHSSE policies.
The role demands an individual of exceptional caliber who is a quick learner, energetic, inspirational, and driven to lead the laboratory team to new heights of growth and success. People management is a critical component of the role.
Work alongside the Manager Geotechnical Laboratories APAC to ensure all work is consistent across marine geotechnical laboratories.
Collaborate closely with Technical Manager, Quality Manager, Programme Manager and Data Lead to ensure that deadlines are met and all works are enacted to a high standard
Direct Reports: Team Leaders fulfilling supervisory functions within Goods-in, Classification and Standard & Advanced laboratory testing.
Maintain open communications with Laboratory Technicians and Engineers to foster a cohesive and motivated team environment.
About the Role
Collaboration: Work closely with the Manager Geotechnical Laboratories APAC, Technical Manager, Quality Manager, Programme Manager and Lab personnel to further develop the laboratories
Leadership: Supervise and monitor day to day laboratory activities. Ensure that laboratory staff work as one integrated, high functioning team Be actively involved in the recruitment process for new personnel in all areas. Proactive in assessing bottlenecks in workflows and processes to ensure efficient laboratory operations
Communication/ Delivering results: Maintain continuous communication and liaison internally to ensure timely submission of deliverables and client satisfaction
Cost Management: Have clarity in understanding the cost base of operations and managing capacity and resources based on demand from the business for both onshore and offshore operations
Personnel Management: Ensure that staff are trained, mentored and coached to ensure that all test methods are performed in a safe and reliable manner and to support and facilitate continual career development
QHSSE: Ensure laboratory maintains ISO 17025 accreditation and adhere to and champion stringent QHSSE and technical requirements in line with Fugro procedures and external accreditations
About you
Degree in Engineering, Process Management or related discipline, or equivalent experience
3 to 8 years of experience in leading and motivating multi-disciplinary teams
Experience in process driven operations and people management (essential)Knowledge of soil testing and understanding of offshore marine geotechnical projects (desirable)
