Primary Job Function
Packaging Engineer- Packaging, on a permanent basis, for our Packaging Operations group based in Singapore. The Packaging Operations group is responsible for the provision of technical expertise in the areas of Packaging and Packaging Performance for products manufactured within Abbott Nutrition.
Core Job Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership within the Abbott manufacturing, supply chain, and packaging engineering organizations as well as to third-party manufacturers (TPMs).
Act as a recognized subject matter expert (SME) in metal can manufacturing and seaming and associated disciplines.
Act as the technical lead and/or project lead for significant projects in technology transfer and process improvement.
Provide operational support for plant teams, third party manufacturing partners, and vendor performance initiatives.
Lead investigations around root cause analysis and determine solutions to technical issues related to vendor performance and/or manufacturing success.
Regularly review new and existing vendor capabilities associated with packaging manufacturing processes while working to identify strategies to ensure ongoing supply chain success.
Ensure maintenance of technical best practice and regulatory compliance.
Provide ongoing technical support to Abbott Nutrition Plants to ensure compliance and security of supply - metrics review, investigation close-out, process improvement.
Knowledge in the areas of injection moulding, corrugates and flexibles would be an advantage.
Monitor process data on production moulds - using statistical methods to predict performance/life expectancy.
Understanding of global regulatory requirements related to design and control of packaging processes.
Candidate will be required to provide support to Global Abbott Nutrition Operations.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
There will be no reporting positions into this role.
Position Accountability/ Scope
The candidate will report into the Packaging Operations Team via the Europe/Asia packaging engineering structure through Abbott Nutrition's engineering team. The candidate will act as a subject matter expert in metal can technology and root cause analysis. The position will have contact with all levels in Abbott Nutrition and directly with suppliers/vendors. Additionally, the person may have contact with professional bodies and international partners.
The candidate will not have budgetary responsibility.
Requirements
A Degree level Qualification or greater than 8 years experience in relevant industry role is the minimum required for this position. Preference to candidates with prior experience in a packaging engineering discipline with focus on metal can technology.
Fluency in English at a technical level is essential.
8+ years experience in a Technical Leadership role in a Product Manufacturing or Packaging environment.
Subject Matter Expert level knowledge of relevant can forming technology.
Subject Matter Expert level knowledge in one other packaging discipline.
Troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis
Proven record of achievement in technical and project leadership.
Ability to interact at all levels of the organization with proven influencing and negotiation ability.
Acknowledged technical leadership.
