UWCSEA has a vacancy at its Dover Campus for a Learning Support Assistant to start in October
- This is a one-year contract, renewable.
Reporting to the Head of Middle School Learning Support, the Learning Support Assistant is responsible for assisting with daily lessons, providing targeted support in ensuring the department's efficient and effective functioning, and departmental administrative responsibilities. The Learning Support Assistant would have experience working with Learning Support students in the 1 1-1 4 a ge range and be able to support students with learning differences.
- Main Responsibilities
Provide targeted in-class support for Learning Support students.
- Support students with specific learning difficulties outside of lessons, for example during academic support sessions after school.
Attend departmental planning meetings so that academic support can be targeted appropriately.- Support teachers with strategies to support identified students.
A commitment to diversity and inclusion is essential alongside a willingness to adapt and develop pedagogy to meet the needs of our learners.
- Performs assigned administration duties as requested by the Head of Department such as but not limited to updating records.
Working collaboratively with the Learning Support team and other relevant Departments.- To provide specific small group learning support interventions, for example reading support.
A recognised degree is required.- Qualifications in the area of Learning Support and Neurodivergent needs are desirable.
At least 2/3 years of experience supporting students.
- The ability to collaborate with a wide range of teachers (the Head of Middle School Learning Support, the Middle School Learning Support team, classroom teachers, Heads of Departments and Heads of Grade) over the most appropriate way to support students in class.
The ability to support the diversity of learners in each classroom.- Flexibility to adapt plans according to needs.
Excellent communication skills so that important information is passed on in a relevant manner.
