  • Remuneration Level B position $123,620 - $145,730 + 17% Superannuation and annual leave loading

About The Faculty


We are currently seeking expressions of interest for a variety of academic positions across the Faculty of Arts, Design & Architecture (ADA) because we are building and expanding. The Faculty is guided by our ADA2051 vision: through creativity, collaboration and inclusion we seek and solve problems to improve life on earth.

Why The Role Matters

UNSW is seeking to fill an Education Focussed role (EF) Full Time (35 hours). This position is open to being Part Time/Job Sharing.

This position enables academics to specialise in education and devote their time to delivering high-quality teaching and pursuing initiatives to enhance the educational experience of our students. Those who are appointed to this prestigious specialism will be expected to successfully drive educational excellence within the university's teaching and learning communities. The role of Lecturer reports to Head of School.

Accountabilities

  • Demonstrate and continuously develop a well-defined teaching philosophy that inspires student learning.
  • Conduct classes, assess student learning achievements and support students in postgraduate and undergraduate courses in line with UNSW policy.
  • Design and develop learning activities and resources, and assessment and feedback using a range of suitable approaches and learning environments.
  • Initiate the development of experimental approaches to teaching and learning with the support of more senior academics.
  • Support learning progression with students as individuals (through such activities as one-to-one consultation) and as a cohort (through general course related advice) to achieve positive learning and employability outcomes for students.
  • Manage course administration as Course Authority, including academic quality assurance.
  • Maintain professional development in pedagogy, disciplinary knowledge and minimum professional accreditation requirements (where relevant).
  • Make a positive contribution to School meetings and seminars and be a member of School/Faculty committees as required.

Skills And Experience


To be considered you will hold Australian Working Rights or Australian Citizenship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.

  • A Masters level or higher degree (PhD) in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching fashion design at tertiary level in undergraduate and postgraduate art and design programs.
  • Proficiency with pattern making, and garment construction.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of practice-based approaches to material reuse and circular design thinking.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design, development and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
  • Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and online delivery methods.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence (e.g. relevant discipline-based curriculum design and development at a variety of levels and scales).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of creative fashion industry or experience of work-integrated learning (desirable).
